Blue Koi — Gold Breakout EA

Blue Koi is an Expert Advisor for XAUUSD on MetaTrader 5. It combines a closed-candle breakout strategy with ATR-based stops, physical trailing stops and configurable risk controls. A black-and-blue dashboard displays strategy status and provides entry-pause and position-close controls.

How the strategy works

By default, Blue Koi measures the high and low of the previous 20 completed H1 candles. The last completed candle’s closing price is compared with a 50-period EMA to select the trading direction. When conditions allow, the EA places a Buy Stop above the range or a Sell Stop below it, including an entry buffer.

The strategy is designed to manage one position at a time. Pending orders have a limited lifetime, and entries are checked against spread and broker-session conditions.

Stop Loss, Take Profit and trailing

Each entry is submitted with a Stop Loss and Take Profit. The default stop distance uses ATR with a minimum price distance, while the default Take Profit is two times the initial stop distance, or 2R.

At a favorable move of 1R, trailing begins to move the physical Stop Loss toward a level corresponding to 50% of the peak favorable price move. These settings are adjustable. The trailing level is a target; actual execution can differ because of gaps, slippage and broker conditions.

Configurable position sizing

• Fixed lot or percentage-of-equity risk sizing.
• Maximum lot and planned-risk limits.
• Daily equity-loss thresholds in percentage or account currency.
• Optional closure of this EA’s positions when a daily threshold is reached.

Calculated volume is rounded down to the broker’s lot step. A setup is skipped when the minimum lot would exceed the selected sizing budget. Daily equity monitoring includes the whole account; trade-management actions are limited to the EA’s symbol and Magic Number.

Trading controls

• Absolute spread and spread-to-stop checks.
• Entry pauses around broker trading-session boundaries.
• Pending-order cancellation and expiry controls.
• Optional entry hours and cooldown after exits.
• Dashboard buttons to pause entries, resume entries, or close the EA’s positions and pause.

The strategy does not use martingale, recovery grids or averaging down. This version does not include an economic-news filter or machine-learning entry filter.

Setup and evaluation

Designed for XAUUSD, with H1 as the default signal timeframe. A hedging account is required outside the Strategy Tester. Broker symbols, contract specifications, spreads and commissions should be checked before use.

Test on suitable real-tick history with realistic costs, then evaluate on demo with a fixed configuration. Keep the terminal, EA and Algo Trading running for ongoing management. An accepted broker-side Stop Loss can remain active while the terminal is disconnected, but further trailing and EA close requests require operation and connectivity.
