I have just purchased the trade copier, however I have no idea how to get started.
I have watched the video, but does this mean I have to have multiple instances of mt5 running?
Are there any text instructions rather than video?

Please read the first part of the installation and user guide:
How to Install and Setup Local Trade Copier EA MT4/5 for the First Time
First you need to install your Local Trade Copier EA MT4/5 in all MT4/5 terminals that you want to use it as a transmitter and receiver, following the full installation guide below, after step 6.
Remember that you must install your Local Trade Copier EA MT4/5 through your MQL5 account in all MT4/5 terminals that you want to use it on. Copy/paste of ex4/5 files will not work for MQL5.com Market purchases.
Also have in mind that you will need to install 2 terminals, one for the transmitter account and one for the receiver.
It is highly advised to download the custom MT4/5 terminal from your broker's website and use it to login into your trading account. If you use the MT4/5 terminal of another broker it may cause symbols confusion and other issues!
If you don't know how to install a second MT4/5 terminal of the same broker in your computer or VPS, watch the gif photo below carefully please. You need to select a different destination folder upon installation of your MT4/5 terminal.
Then you will need to perform the setup between the transmitter and receiver terminals, watching the quick setup video below.
If any of your brokers have any suffix after their symbols, like EURUSD.r or EURUSD+ watch the second part of the video, after 1:15 that shows a setup with suffixes.
If for example your transmitter account has a EURUSD.r symbol and your receiver account has a EURUSD+ symbol, you need to put in the receiver account settings:
Suffix of the Transmitter Account: .r
Suffix of the Receiver Account: +
If you are copying some index or other instrument that has a different symbol in the transmitter and receiver brokers, you will need to use the Special Symbol setup.
If for example your transmitter symbol is US500 and your receiver symbol is SPX500, you need to put in the receiver account settings:
Special Symbol 1: US500,SPX500
If you can't copy, then check the Experts tab of your receiver terminal for any messages or errors.

and further down:
* you must purchase Local Trade Copier EA MT4 for copying from/or to MT4 terminals
There is no MT5 utility or program that works in MT4 and vice versa, this applies to all copiers.
I don't want the receiver to send the position I already have on the transmitter when I sync, is there any way?
Hello, yes if you don't want to copy the already open trades of the transmitter account to the receiver, you need to put in the receiver settings before you attach Local Trade Copier EA MT5 for the first time:
Copy Current Trades=false
The default setting is true.

The copier license is for 1 computer. How can I remove the license from my local computer and transfer it to my VPS?

Hello, Local Trade Copier EA MT/4 and all my products come with 10000 activations, to install and use them in as many computers and VPSs you like, forever.
So, install your Local Trade Copier EA MT5 in your VPS through your MQL5 account, as you did in your laptop.

If I want to disable/pause copying on the receiver temporarily what's the best way to do it from within the EA?
There is no "Enabled: true/false" input. Right now I'm using the general "Allow Algo Trading"-button in MT5.
But I wonder if I can somehow use any of the EA's input as a workaround to disable/pause copying.
Maybe setting mode from "Receiver to Transmitter" or disable "Copy New Trades"?

You can also set the receiver Lot Size Type to None and copying will stop until you change it again.
Lot Size Type=None
Your other ways are also good, choose whatever is easier for you.

I need to set a daily loss emergency stop based on an absolute fixed amount, e.g. 4900, regardless of current equity/balance.
Right now I can only find the option to set a relative equity based percentage, e.g. 4.9%.

There is no such option, you can only put the Daily Drawdown of your receiver account as a percentage of its balance.
Maximum Daily Drawdown %: In this setting you can put the maximum daily drawdown percentage that you can accept for your account, that when it is reached the EA will close all receiver copied trades and suspend copying until the next day. The maximum daily drawdown percentage is calculated from the balance level of your account at 23:59:59 the previous day. If Copy Current Trades is enabled, the EA will copy all transmitter trades that are still open and weren't copied to the receiver account, when copying resumes. This setting will work even if the Use Account Protection setting above is false.
The precentage options are more accurate in account protection terms, because even if your account balance flactuates, the daily drawdown will always be the same in relation to your balance.
