Filtered Market Structure Entries with Structure Grid Basket Management
Kiwi Structure Edge MT5 is an automated Expert Advisor built around market-structure break detection, using confirmed BOS (Break of Structure) and CHoCH (Change of Character) events to identify potential trading opportunities.
The EA combines structure-based entries with a configurable higher-timeframe trend filter, structured basket management, spread protection and balance drawdown protection.
Designed for traders who want an automated structure-based system with clearly defined entry and basket-management rules.
🔥 Key Features
1. BOS & CHoCH Market Structure Entries
The EA reconstructs market structure from confirmed swing highs and swing lows and detects breaks of those levels.
Depending on the selected setting, you can trade:
- BOS + CHoCH
- BOS only
- CHoCH only
Signals are confirmed using closed candles, helping keep the entry logic based on completed market data rather than constantly changing intrabar conditions.
2. Higher-Timeframe Trend Filter
The default trend filter uses the H1 timeframe with 50 EMA and 200 EMA.
For buy signals, the higher-timeframe conditions require:
- Price above the 200 EMA
- 50 EMA above the 200 EMA
For sell signals:
- Price below the 200 EMA
- 50 EMA below the 200 EMA
This allows the structure engine to operate with higher-timeframe directional confirmation.
3. Structure Grid Basket Management
Kiwi Structure Edge uses a coordinated Structure Grid basket rather than treating every position as an independent trade.
Default configuration:
- Maximum positions: 8
- Grid spacing: 150 points
- Weighted basket target: 50 points
- Fixed-volume grid recovery architecture
- Basket-level management
When price moves against an active basket by the configured grid distance, the EA can add another position, subject to its protection and trading conditions.
The basket's exit is calculated from the volume-weighted average entry price.
4. Balance Drawdown Protection
Built-in balance drawdown protection provides an additional layer of account-level risk control.
Default settings include:
- Maximum basket/account drawdown threshold: 15%
- Automatic position-closing process when the configured threshold is reached
- Pending-order removal
- 60-minute cooldown
- Automatic trading resumption after the cooldown
The drawdown protection can be enabled or disabled through the EA settings.
🛡️ Additional Protection & Filtering
Spread Protection
The EA can prevent new trading activity when the current spread exceeds the configured maximum.
Default maximum spread:
500 points
Recovery Entry Confirmation
Recovery/grid additions include confirmation logic designed to avoid blindly adding positions during adverse price movement.
The current implementation uses completed-candle confirmation for recovery entries.
An internal trend-danger mechanism can also pause additional recovery entries when a strong adverse higher-timeframe trend is detected.
Entry Quality Modes
Three entry-quality profiles are available:
Conservative
More restrictive candle and volatility conditions.
Balanced
A middle-ground approach between filtering and signal frequency.
Frequent
The default configuration, maintaining the more direct structure-signal approach.

📊 Balance-Based Lot Scaling
The EA supports balance-based position sizing.

Base lot = 0.01
Balance per base lot = 1,000
the calculated starting volume scales approximately as:
- 1,000 balance → 0.01 lot
- 2,000 balance → 0.02 lot
- 5,000 balance → 0.05 lot
Actual trading volume remains subject to broker limits, available margin and symbol volume rules.
📰 Optional News Filter
An optional MT5 Economic Calendar news filter is included.
When enabled, the EA can block trading around configured economic events, with the current internal configuration focused on high-impact USD events.
The news filter is optional and disabled by default.
🕐 Trading Sessions
Trading can be configured around:
- Sydney
- Tokyo
- London
- New York
- All sessions
- Individual trading days

The EA also checks the broker's actual symbol trading session before submitting trades.

🎯 Designed For

Market Structure → Directional Filtering → Basket Management → Risk Protection
It is particularly focused on traders who prefer structured BOS/CHoCH-based entries rather than conventional indicator-only entry systems.
