BTC Trend Breakout EA

BTC Trend Breakout is a fully automated, algorithmic trading system engineered specifically to capitalize on cryptocurrency volatility. Instead of relying on lagging momentum oscillators, this Expert Advisor analyzes the raw market structure across multiple macro timeframes to identify high-probability breakout zones. EAs like this one operate by converting trading rules into software, automatically analyzing market trends and executing trades without human intervention.

This system does not use Martingale, grid, or hedging strategies. Every single trade is protected by a strict, pre-defined Stop Loss, making it suitable for traders who prioritize strict risk management.

How the Strategy Works The core signal layer of this EA dictates whether there is a valid trading setup based on market analysis. The algorithm continuously scans the highest highs and lowest lows of the H4 and H12 timeframes to build a dynamic structural price channel. It then utilizes a 200-period Exponential Moving Average (EMA) on the H4 chart as a strict directional trend filter.

Buy pending orders (Buy Stops) are only placed if the current price is trading above the 200 EMA. Sell pending orders (Sell Stops) are only placed if the price is trading below the 200 EMA. Orders are placed just outside the macro boundaries (using a customizable point offset) to capture momentum exactly as the breakout occurs.

  • Supported Symbols: Optimized strictly for BTCUSD (Bitcoin).

  • Chart Timeframe: The EA can be attached to any timeframe chart, as it internally requests and processes the H4 and H12 data regardless of the active chart. EAs can be attached to a chart to automate trades based on defined strategies.

  • Broker Conditions: A broker with tight crypto spreads, fast execution, and a low "Stops Level" restriction is highly recommended.

  • Hosting: A reliable, low-latency Virtual Private Server (VPS) is strongly recommended to ensure pending orders and trailing stops are managed seamlessly 24/5 or 24/7. EAs can be tested using the Strategy Tester built into the terminal.

Input Parameters To comply with best practices, the parameters are split into logical blocks for easy configuration.

Core Trade Parameters

  • Lot Size: Fixed volume for market execution.

  • Stop Loss: Defined in broker points.

  • Take Profit: Defined in broker points.

  • Offset: The distance (in points) from the macro High/Low to place the pending breakout order.

Operational Guardrails

  • Magic Number: A unique identifier for the EA's trades.

  • Max Spread: The maximum allowable spread in points. If the current spread exceeds this, trading is paused.

  • Start Hour / End Hour: Define the broker server hours during which the EA is allowed to place new orders.

Trend & Expiration Filters

  • Use Order Expiration: Toggle to automatically delete pending orders that are not triggered within a certain timeframe.

  • Expiration Hours: The number of hours before an untriggered pending order expires. EAs can automate trading rules, reducing the need for human intervention.

  • Use Trend Filter: Toggle the H4 200 EMA trend verification on or off.

  • Ema Period: The period used for the trend filter (Default is 200).

Position Management

  • Use Break Even: Toggle the automatic Break-Even function.

  • Break Even Trigger: The number of points in profit required to activate the Break-Even function.

  • Break Even Profit: The amount of profit (in points) locked in when Break-Even is triggered.

  • Use Trailing Stop: Toggle the step-by-step trailing stop.

  • Trailing Stop: The distance (in points) the stop loss will trail behind the current price. EAs modify behavior using these input parameters.

  • Trailing Step: The frequency (in points) at which the trailing stop updates.
