MarketDominance

Short description (marketplace listing, ~400 chars)

MarketDominance visualizes intraday market control by accumulating candle bodies from the session start. Every bar is classified as Bullish, Bearish or Doji and "poured" into green/red bottles on an on-chart panel — the taller the bottle, the stronger the side's dominance. Includes doji detection with wick analysis, Big/Normal bar classification (ATR or average body), 90-day historical averages, and a color-coded dominance footer. Fully customizable, works in the Strategy Tester.

MarketDominance — Who controls the session?

MarketDominance is an analytical indicator that answers one simple question in real time: is the current trading session controlled by buyers or sellers?

Instead of showing raw price, it uses a simple, transparent model: from the session start, every closed bar is classified and its candle body is accumulated on the side of the winner — like filling a bottle with water of the same color.

  • Bullish bars (close > open) → their body is added to the green bottle
  • Bearish bars (close < open) → their body is added to the red bottle
  • Doji bars → counted, but produce no accumulation (they are marked with a small dot above the candle)

No wicks, no subtraction, no repainting — just pure body accumulation with the same rules every time.

How a bar is classified

  1. Bullish — close is above open
  2. Bearish — close is below open
  3. Doji (either rule):
    • Rule 1: body is small (≤ doji body, in price units) AND the body is not dominant (≤ max % of the candle range)
    • Rule 2: both wicks exist, are almost equal (|upper wick − lower wick| ≤ doji wick), AND the body is small and not dominant

Big / Normal

Each non-doji bar is additionally marked Big or Normal using your chosen method:

  • ATR method — body ≥ N × ATR(period)
  • Average body method — body ≥ N × average body(period)

90-day averages

The panel shows the average number of Bullish / Bearish / Doji bars per trading day over the last 90 days (configurable), computed with the same classification rules — so you can instantly compare today's activity to the recent norm.

Session handling

  • Counts start at the configured session start time (hour/minute, server time) and reset when the new session produces its first bar.
  • On weekends/holidays the panel keeps showing the last completed session's results.

On-chart panel

  • Session start time and total bar count with Bull/Bear/Doji breakdown
  • Bullish / Bearish totals and Big/Normal split
  • Three "bottle" bars (BULL / BEAR / DOJI) with live fill height
  • 90-day averages block with today's comparison
  • Color-coded footer: DOMINANCE: BULLISH / BEARISH / EVEN + net body difference and percentage split

Benefits

  •  Simple and transparent — no black-box math, every value is explained
  •  No repainting — closed bars only; stable signals and panel values
  •  Full customization — timeframe, session start, doji thresholds, colors, corner, fonts
  •  Works in the Strategy Tester (visual mode) for backtesting analysis
  •  Lightweight — zero indicator buffers, no external dependencies
  •  Chart object based — the panel is fully separate from the price scale
