TAKE PROFIT AND STOP LOSS SYNC is a utility for MetaTrader 5 that keeps the levels on the positions you already have open in step with each other. It reads the take profit and the stop loss on your open positions, works out one set of levels for each symbol and direction, and copies those levels onto the positions in that group. It never opens a position, and it tells you exactly what it did to every one of them. WHY THE LEVELS ARE CHOSEN THE WAY THEY ARE A take profit and a stop loss only mean something relative to the side of the trade. On a buy the stop sits below the entry and the target above it, on a sell it is the other way round. So the most room is the lowest stop on a buy and the highest stop on a sell, and the most profit is the highest target on a buy and the lowest on a sell. This tool works on one symbol and one direction at a time. A buy group and a sell group on the same symbol are never mixed, so a level that suits one can never be copied onto the other. WHAT IT CHECKS BEFORE IT CHANGES ANYTHING The new levels have to sit on the correct side of the entry. They are rounded to the symbol's own number of decimals. They are kept outside the broker's stops level and freeze level, so they are not refused for being too close to the price. A level that cannot be used is reported and the position is left alone, rather than a request being sent that the broker will turn down. WHAT THE PANEL SHOWS One row per position: the symbol, the side, the volume, the entry price, the stop and the target the position carries now, the stop and the target it will be given, and the result. The result is one of these: the stop and target were set, the stop was set, the target was set, the position was already in step, the level was on the wrong side of the entry, the level was too close to the price, or the broker refused the change and its error number is shown. Under the table is the number of positions, how many were changed, how many were left alone, how many the broker refused, the profit that would be reached at the new take profit and the loss that would be reached at the new stop, in the account currency. Those two figures are calculated by the terminal from the entry price to the new levels, so the contract size, the tick value and the commission are all taken into account and the number is right on every symbol. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO It does not open positions. It does not give signals. It does not promise a profit or a result of any kind. It only changes the levels on positions that are already open. WHICH POSITIONS IT TOUCHES By default every open position. It can be limited to a single symbol, to a single magic number, or to the positions whose comment contains a piece of text of your choosing, so it can be kept away from trades opened by something else on the same account. It can also be told to leave the levels alone and only report them, which is a useful way to see what it would do before letting it act. REQUIREMENTS MetaTrader 5 build 2000 or later. It uses the standard library that comes with the terminal, so there is nothing extra to install.
