He never opens an order, even though according to the settings he should have. Is this normal? Is there a problem with this expert?

Hi! The ADVISOR does not open transactions.

Hi SmailR, thanks for the feed back. Try these quick fixes -

1. Platform and Global Settings

These are the most common and easiest issues to fix.
 * "AutoTrading" or "Algo Trading" is Disabled:
     - MetaTrader 4 (MT4): The Expert Advisors button (or AutoTrading button in newer
versions) on the main toolbar must be green (or show a "smiley face" on the chart) to
allow any EA to trade.1 If it's red, no EA can open trades.
     - MetaTrader 5 (MT5): The Algo Trading button must be green.
 * "Allow Live Trading" in EA Properties: When you attach the EA to a chart (or check its
settings, usually by pressing F7), you must have the "Allow live trading" or "Allow
automated trading" checkbox ticked on the Common tab.
 * Disabled Automated Trading for the Terminal: In the terminal's main settings (Tools >
Options > Expert Advisors/Algo Trading), ensure that "Allow automated trading" is checked.
 * Wrong Chart/Symbol/Timeframe: The EA is coded to run on a specific symbol (like
EURUSD) or timeframe (like H1). If you have it attached to the wrong one, its trading
   conditions may never be met.
 * Missing or Disconnected Terminal: The MetaTrader terminal must be running and
connected to your broker's server 24/5 (or 24/7 for crypto/weekend trading). If the
connection status is red or it's running on a local PC that is turned off, it cannot trade. (A
VPS is often used to solve this.)

2. Broker and Account Restrictions
These issues result in the EA trying to trade but the broker rejecting the order. You will often see
an error code in the Experts or Journal tab of the terminal.
   * Invalid Volume (Lot Size):
     - The EA may be trying to trade a lot size that is too small (below the broker's minimum,
e.g., less than 6$0.01$ lot) or too large (above the account's maximum).
   * Insufficient Margin: The account may not have enough free margin to open the trade at the
     requested lot size.
   * Invalid Stop Loss/Take Profit: The Stop Loss or Take Profit levels specified by the EA may
be too close to the current price (violating the broker's Freeze Level or Stop Level distance).
   * Holidays or Closed Market: The market for that specific symbol may be closed (e.g., during
the weekend, bank holidays, or daily trading breaks).
   * Trading Mode Restrictions: Some EAs are written for hedging accounts (allowing both a
Buy and Sell on the same pair), while your account may be netting (only one position per
     pair).
   * "Trading Disabled - Investor Mode": You may be logged into your account using an
Investor Password, which only allows viewing, not trading
