Running MT5 + EA on Windows Server 2012 R2

Hello,

I installed Windows Server 2012 R2 and am running MT5 on it. However, I noticed a warning in the MT5 log recommending Windows 10 or later.

Can I still continue using MT5 and my EA on Windows Server 2012 R2? Will there be any problems in the future?

I prefer to use this VPS because it has lower specifications and is more affordable.

Thank you.

  1. This is a user's forum not Metaquotes. Did you ask them?
  2. They already said.

The MetaTrader platforms will no longer support Windows XP, Windows 2003 and Windows Vista after 01 October 2017.

Support for Windows XP/Windows 2003/Windows Vista to be discontinued after 01 October 2017 - General - MQL5 programming forum MetaQuotes Software Corp. 2017.06.01 08:02

From an independent VPS provider [name redacted per Forum rules]:

"This is non-negotiable. MT5 is now a 64-bit-only platform. As of January 1, 2024, 32-bit versions no longer function, making 64-bit Windows Server 2019, 2022, or 2025 essential for running any current MetaTrader 5 build."

2012 R2 is pretty old at this point, worth checking if MT5 build actually supports it still since the newer builds have been quietly dropping older OS support. Might save you some headaches figuring that out before you get deep into EA config.
