Rebought ea and I went out of activations again on first activation, same pc same broker different mt5 account

Situation:

  • I have MT5 account number 1 where I bought an EA, installed and uninstalled it, and burned up all 9 activations, so I can no longer use it.
  • So it was told me to buy another one. Since I couldn't do that with account 1,
  • opened mt5 account number 2, bought the same EA again, reinstalled it on the same PC, using same broker and received an email from the system saying: "You activated 8 of 9 activations." So I wasted $950 on my purchase AGAIN?????? How is this possible???? What should I do??

First of all you can't consume all activations by uninstalling and re-installing your purchase on the same computer. You've probably installed it in different computers and/or VPSs, otherwise you wouldn't have used all 9 activations.

If by MT5 account, you mean your MQL5 account, you shouldn't open a new MQL5 account for your new purchase, you should have used the first MQL5 account that you've initially purchased your EA with. It is against the rules to open multiple MQL5 accounts.

What you needed to do is login into your first MQL5 account in MT4/5 >> Tools >> Options >> Community in a MT4/5 terminal that you hadn't installed your EA before and purchase it again.

The message you see it can't be from your new purchase, it is impossible to consume 8 out of 9 activations by installing your new purchase on a single computer!

 
For completeness:
Account 1 (mql5) was used on 2 PC:
- for 4 Falcon Funded props (all lost), 2 Vantage accounts, and 1 MetaQuotes demo account for testing, all on the same PC.
- 1 laptop with a MetaQuotes demo account for testing, where I stupidly installed the EA.

Then I uninstalled and reinstalled everything on these pcs because the MT5 software wouldn't update.

I contacted the EA manufacturer because it was behaving strangely (it didn't display the EA logo when active on the chart), and he told me I'd used up all my activations.

So, not knowing how to buy it back, I created another MQL5 account and repurchased the EA on mql5 account 2, all on the main PC. When I reinstalled the EA, I received an email from the system, as attachment up, saying I'd used up 8 of 9 activations.

I'm desperate.
 

You can't use 8 activations with 1 installation, that is impossible.

You can check the remaining activations of all your purchases, here, do the same for both your MQL5 accounts and I strongly recommend to contact the Service Desk and delete the second MQL5 account, moving your new EA purchase to the first account.

Activation is per 1) forum account/profile (Community tab login which is MQL5 account), and per 2) computer with hardware, and 3) sofware, and 4) different authorization method. The trading accounts and the number of Metatrader instances have nothing to do with it.

Activation will be lost because of the following:

  • major Windows updates (OS updates),
  • hardware updates
  • and different authorization (as a regular user of Windows or as admin for example).

It means:

  • if you use different computer or you change something in your computer (hardware) so one activation will be lost and you will have to uninstall your product from Metatrader and install it once again (from same Metatrader).
  • If your Windows was updated (some major updates) so the activation will be lost.
  • If you login to your Windows as admin (not as a regular user) - activation will be lost.

And it does not depends on how many Metatrader instances (and trading accounts) you are using on computer.

    i feel sooooo stupid. now i realized that i have 6 activation LEFT on first account and 8 on the second account.

    and i don't undestand why ea seller told me i have used all activations. and email received isn't so clear, probably due to translation...

    ok, i spent money double, but i lost nothig. feeeeeeeeeeew.

    contact service desk quick smart before the system deletes 1 or both accounts due to your having 2 accounts being against the rules.
