I think my IP is banned what can I do? - page 2

It turned out to be my Hosts file.

I installed MT4 from a broker named Hugosway. they require their version of MT4 when I install it the program changes my host file and then I cannot connect to anything from metatrader.

I would already be very suspicious of the broker if they would modify the hosts file with their installation

This issue has been described many times and Hugosway was mentioned in past threads when detectives put it down to the installation of metatrader itself being what caused the issue in the past, and yet, here is the same issue after all this time. When is a developer going to take notice of these things? There was already supporting evidence of this behaviour of metatrader installer doing this before now.

The next day is a different problem.
C:\Users\whroe>ping download.mql5.com
Pinging us.na.cdn.mql5.com [142.215.208.235] with 32 bytes of data:

    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),
Fixed in 9/20

An IP ban at firewall level could look like that.  The resolved IP shown above is the same one I get for that domain, and it's returning in about 37ms for me:

PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> ping download.mql5.com

Another test would be to try to ping something else (e.g. 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1, Google or Cloudflare DNS) to verify that ICMP pings get through your Internet connection.  If they do but the MQL5 ones don't, this would be an example of something probably for the Service Desk.

I encountered the same issue. It’s a VPS from Vultr...

It can connect to mql5.com, but MT4 cannot connect to any broker.

Hello, did someone found solution? I've got exactly the same issue.

Hosts file is correct, so problem is somewhere else.

Hello, did someone found solution? I've got exactly the same issue.

Hosts file is correct, so problem is somewhere else.

It may be many reasons for that:

  • host file issue (read this thread);
  • using external VPS from VPS providers which were banned from mql5 internet portal
  • WebView2 (post )
  • Firewall and antivirus software, and TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, TLS 1.2 protocols (post  )

I collected some reasons in this blog post:
Summary: Installation Failed - Error 403 and more

MT4: MQL Base: failed connect to server

It is so fractured !! I try millions solutions on online but nothing can help me. I bought the EA from MQL5 but can't load it on my MT4 server...
