Hello,
I am writing to report a bug in the latest update of MetaTrader 5, specifically within the MetaEditor.
When setting a breakpoint, I used to be able to right-click and add watch to see the values of variables that received input from the user. However, now it shows "unknown identifier". This issue is particularly problematic for my projects which have hundreds of inputs.
1. Set a breakpoint in the code.
2. Right-click on a variable that receives input from the user.
3. Select "Add Watch".
4. Observe the "unknown identifier" message in the debug tab.
• MetaTrader 5 Version: 5 build 4435 8 jul 2024
• MetaEditor Version: 5 build 4435 8 jul 2024
• Operating System: windows 10 pro
I have been developing various Expert Advisors using MQL4/5 for over 7 years, and this issue significantly impacts my workflow.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response and a potential fix.
Best regards,
Vahid Movahedi

Build 4435 is a beta build. Don't use beta build if you don't want to be a beta tester.
The last release build is 4410.

Thank you for your advice. I actually downloaded MetaTrader directly from the official website, so I didn't intentionally install a beta version. I will try to download the stable release version 4410 as you suggested. Thanks again for your help!

You should remove the metaquotes demo account as well. It distributes the beta build.

Thank you for your guidance. If I want to revert to the latest non-beta version, do I need to reinstall MetaTrader? And to stop receiving beta updates, should I delete the MetaQuotes demo account after installing MetaTrader and create a demo account with another broker?

You only need to replace the .exe files in Program Folder.
Yes, delete the account, and get a proper demo account.

Hi Dominik,
Thanks for your guidance. I followed these steps:
1.
I backed up all my data in MetaEditor.
2.
I completely uninstalled MetaTrader 5.
3.
I reinstalled MetaTrader 5 from the following link:
4.
After installation, the version was 4424.
5.
I deleted the MetaQuotes demo account and created a demo account with the AMarkets broker.
6.
While restoring my files in MetaEditor, I received a restart message for an update. After restarting, the version changed to 4435, and the same issues still exist.
Is there any other way to resolve this problem?
Thanks,
Vahid

Yes. As I said, just replace the exe files.
Download them from the telegram channel.
You can find it on the profile page of this user

Hi Dominic,
Before I saw your instructions, I repeated the previous steps but changed the installation path from the default to another drive. I'm not sure if this caused it, but it's been almost 24 hours, and my MetaTrader is still on version 4424. However, I no longer see the issues I had in MetaEditor.
Thanks for your help!
