MT5 Resets Columns' Position and Size in the Toolbox After Every Restart

I changed the size and position of the columns in the toolbox window to my liking. But after every MT5 restart (which happens a lot because of updates), the position and size of all those columns reset to default. Is there a way to stop this annoying behavior so that the new position and size of the columns are respected even after a restart?

Yes it's annoying and I don't think there is way to avoid it unfortunately.

Thank you for the answer. I appreciate it.

Is it true that with a real account from a broker instead of MT5's own demo account, these updates won't happen as often?

For the sake of not creating a new thread, allow me to also ask if the same thing applies to DOM's SL and TP? Every time I restart MT5, my stop-loss and take-proft will reset to 0 in DOM. So I enter a trade and realize that my trade doesn't have a SL which can be very dangerous if you're not paying attention. So I ask again, there's no solution for this either?

Is there a SETTING FILE somewhere in MT5's folder to edit the position and size of all the columns in the toolbox window?

No, because if it were the case, then it would not reset after the terminal restarted.

Yes, to a degree, because reputable brokers only push out the official release updates and not the beta releases.

But don't you think that when MT5 resets the size and position of the columns, it does it according to some setting that are written somewhere? And if only we could find that particular file, we would be able to change it to our liking?

No, it adjusts proportionality to the window size, based on internal (executable file) hardcoded references.

Oh okay then, thank you. I actually have a (kind of a) solution. I've placed the Navigator window to the left of the Toolbox window which shrinks the columns in the Toolbox window.

But because I close the Navigator window, I'll do the following every time MT5 re-opens after an update (if you keep the Navigator window open, you don't have to do the following):

• I first click on the Toolbox window and press “A” to activate (Auto Arrange).

• I then press Control+N to show the Navigator window (which should now open on the left side of the Toolbox window).

• I then drag the border between the Navigator window and the Toolbox window to the right, to achieve my desired Toolbox columns size.

At this point you're done. But if you want to then close the Navigator window, the columns in the Toolbox window will resize again. So the following should be done if you want to close the Navigator window:

• I then click on the Toolbox window, and press “A” again to deactivate (Auto Arrange).

• At this point you can press Control+N to close the Navigator window.

• Then since (Auto Arrange) is off, you can drag all the columns (except Symbol) to the right, in one move, instead of one by one.
