If you mean personal computers, the first one was not made in an American garage, but in the Kyiv Institute of Cybernetics of the Ukrainian SSR Academy of Sciences. I worked on it in 1976, it was quite a decent machine for those days. It was called the MIR - machine for engineering calculations. The language was Almir65, based on Algol.

In trading, mathematics is always needed. Often school knowledge is not enough. At least at uni they showed me what else is out there in that maths. Now I often lack it, I have to study it as needed. In life I use not only mathematics, but also physics. In India there are a lot of people without education, look how they live. We don't have much education, but it's better than no education. We need to develop education, make it more accessible, more understandable, and more interesting. People often do not understand what they are being taught because they do not see why they need it. Mathematics is a very important science, you can describe the whole world with it, but how do you describe a process without mathematics? Unless it's, "Well, it was growing, then it got stronger, then it slowed down, then it started falling and it goes on and on." And that's just a sine. And a sine is a one-dimensional circle...

And no one said that all school science should be in demand in ordinary life. They are given in case of development of general erudition, so as not to be a complete idiot and understand what is generally there in society. And in case one decides to continue one's education and become a specialist driving progress.
