VPS tips needed

Hello All,

I've recently started testing some robots on a Metatrader VPS, but not sure of how the VPS interacts with my trading platform. I understand that everything flows one way from the platform to the VPS, and there are VPS logs that can be reviewed. My questions:

• Once the VPS is connected and started, should I close my computer's trading platform? What happens if I leave my platform open and running? Is it then placing trades in addition to the VPS?
• Does the VPS pull down and use the Metaeditor files?
• If I've made changes to the trading platform, I should restart the VPS?
• Are there any other issues with VPS I should know about?

Yes, in addition to VPS.
Because MQL4 VPS is the copy of your Metatrader in the cloud (using same account with you). So, if you (with your Metatrader) and VPS (with the copy of your Metatrader) trading on same your broker's account so it may be the addition.

Do, it only if you want this "addition" - for example - you are planning to use EA on VPS and trade manually using same your account.
Otherwise, it is better to close your computer's trading platform.

MQL5 VPS is for Metatrader 4 and Metatrader 5 - Forex VPS for MetaTrader 4/5 
So, you can check only the following: your EA (robot) is using dll, or not (because dll is not supported by MQL5 VPS).

Rules of Using the Virtual Hosting Service MetaTrader (Forex VPS)

No DLLs are allowed on a Virtual terminal. There is no physical capacity to use DLLs there.

If a program launched on a Virtual terminal tries to call a function from any DLL, this EX4/EX5 program is immediately stopped due to a critical error. Any DLL calls are forbidden.

How to update/adjust EAs that are hosted on a VPS?

You have to make your adjustments locally in your computer's MT4 platform and then synchronize with your VPS again.

MQL5 MT4 integrated VPS doesn't give you real/visual access to the MT4 platform that your EAs are loaded on.
