mindsalike,

Here it is ____________________________

Parameters :
OmaPeriod-> period for one more average

OmaSpeed-> speed of one more average

OmaAdaptive-> do you want the one more average adaptive or not

BetterFormula-> do you want the "better" formula for Heiken Ashi or not

Step-> do you want to enter "step" mode (with step greater than 0) or not (step == 0). I made a small deviation here : in the original it is checking pips, but here I allowed that pips can be fractional - so it can be 1.1 pips for example and not just round number of pips for step

PS: don't mind the default parameters I used. Those are simply the first numbers that came into mind to make it "not too fast"

regards

Mladen

mindsalike:
Hi,

First let me thanks to this wonderfull forum, this advanced elite section really worth it.

Id like to ask if ti is possible to convert this indicator, instead of using the t3 average, to use the one more average to do the calculations of the Heiken Ashi average.

Thanks in advance,
mindsalike

mindsalike, you are welcome _________________________

The "smoothed" version too

Additional parameters :
OmaPostPeriod-> period for one more average post smoothing

OmaPostSpeed-> speed of one more average post smoothing

OmaPostAdaptive-> do you want the one more average post smoothing adaptive or not

If the OmaPostPeriod is set to less than 1, than post smoothing is not done. Also, the "stepping" is removed from this indicator (because of the post smoothing, which makes the stepping obsolete (it would not serve any purpose))

Difference in the post smoothing is not just "cosmeticall". For comparison, the upper is without post smoothing and the lower is with applied post smoothing :

It depends on the purpose one wants to use this indicator for which kind of post smoothing would one apply. I set the default to a rather "slow" post smoothing (adaptive turned off slows it down significantly). Anyway, with additionally available options, now we can decide which version, how and when to use it. In my opinion (but please do not take it as a "guide" of any sort) Heiken Ashi (due to its nature and a time when it was invented when daily charts were prevailing) should be used on daily chart (something like this, where it can give a sort of a "general direction" of intra day orders that one would place, and with a proper profit targets it would even make a reasonably "safe" trading way (if "safe" can exist in forex at all ))

One more application of one more average ...

__________________________

I was reading a book by Mark Jurik and it reminded me of DMX indicator, Then, I started to look for it on metatrader and I did not find it (found some metatrader 3 versions but they were really far away from DMX should be (no smoothing at all, for beginning...). So ... decided to make one. According to Mark Jurik this is dmx

(even if it tells bipolar DMI on the picture, in the subscription of the picture it is saying : "Compare the noisy magenta line to the blue line underneath. This new line is Jurik's DMX, the clear replacement for bipolar DMI. DMX offers a clean, jagged-free picture, allowing you to detect true market direction faster, and with greater accuracy. ")

__________________________

But, since I was already making it decided to make a version that uses one more average for smoothing instead of using Jurik smoothing. So here are 2 versions : the "Jurik smoothed" version and the one more average smoothed version. Default parameters are set so that they are almost the same (even though it is not a "fair" comparison since I had to turn the adaptive in the one more average post smoothing off in order to get similar results, and since Jurik smoothing is always adaptive, making the oma non adaptive is like taking 2 wheels of of a car in order to compare it)

__________________________

Anyway, here are the 2 : upper is the "Jurik" version, lower is the oma version
Also, a word of warning : in the original DMX there is no phase change (or rather, it is fixed to 0). I decided to let it be changeable but if you use Phase different than 0 cases like this one on the picture, when the indicator overshoots out of its bounds, can happen :

As far as I know, those overshooting are much, much smaller with oma version, but ... no guarantee, since there is no upper and lower bound check __________________________
