They are probably causing this confusion on purpose. It was like that all the time : whenever ECB made a move, FED made a counter move. All this is a damage control - neutralizing ECB interest rate cut and forcing ECB to go further. The war is a war. They do not plan to take prisoners in that war (their jobs are at stake, and other thing more sacred than their own well being could drive them? None)
