You'd need to get a momentum indicator and include divergence before you could get that confident.
There will be many times when the star moves outside the BB but if momentum is increasing without divergence, then the price will continue until momentum has reduced.
I've attached an illustration of the 1hr GU and the 'X' is where the star first showed. Momentum on my indicator was dramatic so it was not a reversal at that point.
To make a successful EA means taking a lot of indicators into consideration and maybe asystem2000 is a specialist in one - whatever his reason, he has made a hugely successful job of the semafor.

TEAMTRADERHi TEAMTRADER,
Nice system
Mind you share your template and momentum indicators?

Hi TEAMTRADER,

Regards,
ChrisstoffThe indicators are tied to my account but they are CCI based. The main CCI's are 110 and 55 if that helps.
The EWTrend with a setting of 60/20 is the bottom indicator and this is attached as it is very useful.
The semafor indicator has already been posted.
Hope that helps.

I may use these systems to
play with AD -- aud / cad -
- as I don't know about other PAIRS these dayit is a mystery building for me https://www.mql5.com/en/forum/177803

Dear TEAMTRADER
I have use different version of semafor and now I am wondering about settings you suggest:
The 15/34/55 you suggest is different from the default 5/13/34, but it just removes the 1st nodes, is this understood?
Also the Dev-Levs on the indicator you posted are set at 5,3 for all three, are these settings you suggest because they differ from other versions?
Thanks
Zig
It is very similar to 'asystems' 3 level semafor and he is the coder of both. He is indeed a clever person and has my personal admiration.
If you have already downloaded his level 3 semafor, and change the settings to 15/34/55, this gives the identical picture to the #4x3 semafor I have posted -- and these setting work for all timeframes.
I see very little difference in the indicators, just visual affects.
SCALPING - It repaints like all of them but if it is used with the dots/stars as the START of diagonals then this is a safer way to trade. Obviously I use this with momentum indicators for scalping and it gives more credibility to the moves.
Hope this helps.

TEAMTRADERlets test and share the result! yeah!!!

ZigHi Zig,
It was the 4#3semafor indi - attached again in case of confusion.
Yes, as I understand it the 'noise' of the signals is reduced, meaning reduced but more accurate signals for scalping. HOWEVER, if it is used on 4hr charts and above, then the default setting is perfect (5/12/35). By this I mean that using chart diagonal trendlines starting from the dots there is a lot less chance of a serious loss.
The other settings Dev-Lev etc I have never changed. They are the coders standard.

TEAMTRADERRight yes, i did some examination today and found those Dev-lev settings to be ok/fine actually;
and using the 5 setting gives all the detailed 1st nodes, if you like, or use setting starting with 13 for a clearer picture mainly 2nd nodes and 3rd (2nd nodes are now 1st)
just to note the one you posted i think started with 15, but 13 gives a better picture (if not going down to 5)
cheers
oh and yes i know starting from the dots, i already use something similar
...and what is the 2 colour linear indicator similar action to the dots!??
I have the #4x3Semafor alert and I totally agree it could be made into an EA in association with other indicators.
However, I have extensively tested it with CCI indicators and also a Supertrend MTF Indicator and the results are excellent.
If the initial coder of the Semafor (asystem2000) was interested then I would share the parameters with him to make what I believe will be low drawdown and highly profitable EA.
I've tried to PM asystem2000 but unable to do so.
