I have to disagree. Averaging in is not implying martingale. The important thing when using such strategies is that:
-> stoploss is set at the first trade, stoploss remains the same for the add-on trades.
I disagree with gezgin72.
As equity rises, one has more margin & so can risk similar %-age with rising lot numbers.
Martingale behaviour would be increasing risk (often doubling) after any losses. This behaviour is not seen.
Oops. My dismissive comment was flawed, I was only looking at lot size, and had not noticed the way that trades were being added to losing (and also winning) trades. Mea culpa.
After reading further comments, and re-checking the stmt, I will modify my comment to "I'm not sure whether it's Martingale or not"
It certainly *is* risking more and more capital on a trade (seemingly regardless of whether it's winning or losing - it does both).
As it risks more capital to a losing trade, on that basis I regard the strategy as a BAD THING.
I have different point of view. I can see that there many postions close to each others, which means that he is using an EA.
I'm sure it is not a normal EA that is based on signals, but also technicals I would say.
oh, I guess it could be either of the two; Forex Ghost or Fire Bird.....
The reason is obvious guys. Both open many trades from time to time, and I remember that Forex Ghost doesn't use stoploss while profit traget is small most of the times.
I hope this helps.
Best wishes,
