Please note that there is currently a bug in MT5 build 2560 (latest release version) which results in the Take a Break indicator being added multiple times to your charts whenever a template is loaded.
The issue seems to be fixed already in MT5 build 2561 (beta version) which will hopefully be released soon.

Hi Eric,
If you take a look at the selection in the attached; for NFP; does this make sense, or no sense at all, for a grid strategy?
I'm thinking this will at 181m before NFP, first suspend the SL/TP; then at the 180th minute before NFP, it will remove the EA from operations.
But - when the EA is reinstated back at the 180th minute AFTER NFP, it will apply its own (possibly new) TP/SL I'm guessing; so how does TaB EA apply the former SL/TP at the 181th minute AFTER NFP?
Just wondering what might be the best settings here for a Grid Strategy, where you don't want something like NFP to completely kill your account.
Value your thoughts please

Hi Alan,
you probably need to experiment a bit with these settings but in general, they will work just as you described. Personally, I would set the "Take action" parameter to a lower value than the "Pause trading" parameter.
Also note that TaB won't perform it's own calculations for restoring the TP/SL values - it will just restore the visible (= hard) TP/SL values that were set on the orders before the news.
So if you're using a grid strategy, I doubt that your orders will have a fixed, visible TP/SL. Your EA probably has its own algorithm for calculating the TP/SL values but as long as they are not visible, TaB will also not be able to restore them. However, once your EA is restored after the news, it will take care of these trades again and possible close them.
Hope that helps.
Hello
Hi!
Yes, that's possible. You can either use the time filters for that or a more dynamic approach:
- "Which trades should be managed?": Only trades with specific Magic Number or Order Comment
- [specify your Magic Number or Order Comment]
- "Force stop trading and pause External EA": false
- "Max Lots": 0.01
As soon as the first trade opens, all charts will be switched to "Trading NOT allowed" except for the one that contains the EA with the specified Magic Number or Order Comment.
Hope that helps.
Hello
Hello
Hi Tyler,
really sorry to hear that.
Usually, TaB users start with the free demo (https://www.mql5.com/en/market/product/45266) and familiarize themselves with TaB's settings. They can be overwhelming, especially if you are new to the product.
Also, could you please send me your Expert log in a PM so that I can investigate the issue for you? TaB logs every action it performs, so it should be easy to identify why so many trades were closed.
We can also arrange a 1:1 session through TeamViewer where I can do the initial setup for you.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Eric

Usually 0 represents not used on Experts. I understand how to use the software, you just weren't clear in the expert that enabling DD settings requires all the fields to be used and not just the DD limit. I am still wanting to use the software and still think it is useful. I should have done more testing I cannot deny that but that isn't why I am replying. Everything seems to be working better but I still have an issue with a chart and I am not sure what caused it. I have trading to disable on Fridays at 21:00. Today was the first friday I have used that feature and one of my charts made the small trades again. At exactly 21:00 small trades opened and closed 20 to 30 times with a loss. Trading should have been disabled completely but it still operated and it affected my account negatively. I am trying to figure out why this happened, maybe you have insight to how I can fix this? Like I said I am still a fun of the software if I can fix these kinks, I would still give a good review of the product because of what it can accomplish for me.

Hi Tyler,
"0" also represents "not used" in TaB. Actually, TaB does not do anything just by setting up the EA. It also needs the indicator to identify the charts to manage, otherwise, your other EAs cannot be stopped. So be sure to follow the setup example here: https://www.mql5.com/en/market/product/51828
Regarding the stop trading on Friday at 21:00: you also need to set the time filter accordingly then. In your screenshots, I can see that you just set "Close all trades on: Friday". But the time filter for Friday is set to "0-24". You should set it to "0-21" as otherwise, trading will continue after 21:00 but all trades will be closed immediately (which could also explain the described behavior).
Also, while taking a look at your previous screenshots, I also noticed that the "Maximum Drawdown" was specified as "17" when this probably should have been "-17" (negative number). The parameter description also states "(< 0, e.g. -100)".
Ultimately, in order to find out why the small trades were actually closed, please send me the Experts .log file by PM:

Thank you for the info. I've adjusted everything accordingly.
My final question, and you'll be getting a good review for your patience. When i use the max spread feature are there any other options that need to be disabled or enabled to make that work? For example of i put 10 in will that prevent trades with a spread of over 10 from opening? And do you have a website with more detailed instructions on everything?
Hi Tyler,
yes, the spread filter works exactly as you described.
My new website will have a dedicated FAQ section just for TaB. Hopefully, it won't take too long until it's finished.
For now, just contact me directly in case of any questions.
Regards,
Eric
Please note that there's currently a bug in the latest MT5 build 3081 which may cause error "invalid EX5 file (14)" in the Experts log and sadly, breaks TaB's functionality.
The issue seems to be resolved in build 3082 so please make sure to update MT5 to this build number if you are affected by this.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Hey there,
sorry for the late reply. I've been on holiday.
Please check the "Experts" log of MetaTrader and see whether there is any relevant information from TaB. If not, please send me your .set file for TaB as a private message so that I can check it.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Eric

I just had the same problem, and see nothing relevant in the experts log about it.

Please make sure you set up the Take a Break EA + at least 1 Take a Break indicator for the Chart Group you specified.
Without that, some functions (like Trade Closing) won't work currently. This will be fixed in the next update.

Eric
