MT5 Session High/Low Breakout Indicator – Non-Repainting Alerts

1. Session Settings

Symbol: Current chart symbol (EURUSD for testing).

Timeframe: M5.

Two independent sessions:

• Session A: 08:00–10:00

• Session B: 13:00–15:00

All times use MT5 broker server time. Start and end times must be configurable.

The indicator should calculate each session's high and low using M5 candles within the configured time window.

2. Chart Display

• Draw horizontal lines for each session's high and low.

• Use different colors for Session A and Session B.

• Display the session name and price level.

• While a session is running, its high and low may update as new completed candles become available.

• Once the session finishes, its final high and low must remain fixed.

• Historical session levels must not change after confirmation.

3. Breakout Signals

Generate a BUY arrow when an M5 candle closes strictly above the confirmed session high.

Generate a SELL arrow when an M5 candle closes strictly below the confirmed session low.

Rules:

• No breakout signals before the relevant session finishes.

• Use completed candles only.

• A wick touching or crossing the level is not enough.

• Maximum one BUY alert and one SELL alert per session per trading day.

• Breakouts are valid after the session ends until the end of that broker-server trading day.

• Confirmed historical arrows must remain unchanged.

• Alerts must not be repeated after indicator reload or MT5 restart.

4. Alerts

• MT5 popup alerts.

• Optional sound alerts through an input setting.

• Display arrows directly on the chart.

• Avoid duplicate alerts for the same breakout.

5. Deliverables

• Complete MQ5 source code.

• Compiled EX5 indicator.

• Configurable session times, colors and alert settings.

• Brief installation and usage instructions.

• Basic Strategy Tester or visual chart evidence showing session boundaries, frozen levels and breakout signals.

1. How would you prevent repainting while still allowing the current session's high and low to update before that session closes?

2. What technical concerns or simple improvements would you recommend to make the breakout alerts reliable, especially after MT5 restarts?

I prefer a lightweight indicator with predictable behavior rather than unnecessary dashboards or extra features.
