TPO Session Letters MS draws a classic Market Profile with letters (A, B, C …) for one cash session per day, directly on the MetaTrader 5 chart. By default it is set up for the Xetra session of the German index (09:00–17:30 Frankfurt time); any other session can be configured in the inputs.
You enter the session in its own time zone (Frankfurt, London or New York). The indicator converts it to your broker's server time separately for every day, including the weeks when Europe and the USA change clocks on different dates, so past profiles stay aligned with the real session open.
What you see on the chart
- TPO letters, one letter per time bracket (default 30 minutes); O marks the session open, # the close or last price
- POC, Value Area (default 68.8%) with VAH / VAL labels, and naked POC extended until price touches it
- Single print selling and buying tails, and single prints inside the profile, extended until broken or filled
- Poor High and Poor Low (2 or more letters at the extreme), extended until taken out and shown live on the current session
- Initial Balance (first 60 minutes) with 1x and 2x extensions, and the day range bar
- Day name and percentage move from the session open above every profile
- Key times of the day as vertical lines with your own labels (default 08:00, 10:00, 12:00, 14:30, 15:30, 21:58 and the session close)
Value status
A status box compares the current price with the previous session's Value Area: IN VALUE (inside the VA, balance), ABOVE VALUE (above VAH, imbalance, expensive), BELOW VALUE (below VAL, imbalance, cheap) or AT POC. A second box shows the move since today's session open, for example "Xetra +0.45%".
Alerts
- Price reaches the previous session's POC
- Price enters an unbroken tail or reaches an untaken Poor High / Low of a past session
- Key times (optional)
Sound and an optional Alert window; all sounds can be switched off with one button.
Panel
Buttons switch each layer on or off: TPO, POC / VA, Tail / SP, Poor H/L, IB, Open O / #, Key times, Labels, Sounds. The state is kept per chart after timeframe or symbol changes and terminal restarts.
Buffers for Expert Advisors (iCustom)
- 0 – 2: previous session POC, VAH, VAL (no repaint)
- 3 – 5: POC, VAH, VAL of the session the bar belongs to (developing during the current session)
- 6 – 7: IB High, IB Low (from the end of the Initial Balance)
- 8: value status: 1 above previous VAH, -1 below previous VAL, 0 inside, 3 at previous POC
Getting started
- Attach the indicator to a chart of the index (M5 to M30 recommended) with default settings.
- In the Experts tab, find the line "TPO Session Letters MS: broker server …". It shows the detected broker time and the session in server time.
- Check that the letter A starts on the session open candle. If not, set "Broker server GMT offset in winter" and "Broker server DST rule" manually (most GMT+2 / GMT+3 brokers follow the US rule).
Broker time is detected automatically from the terminal clock and from M1 history (the jump in volatility at the session open), also in the Strategy Tester. For the demo, use visual mode on the index symbol and start the test a few weeks after the beginning of the available M1 history.
