Flipper Classic is a fully automated Expert Advisor for XAUUSD (Gold). It trades a breakout of the early-session price range, with a trend filter and a fixed risk per trade.
The EA opens at most one trade per day. It does not use martingale, grid, hedging or averaging. Every trade has a stop loss and a take profit from the moment it is opened.
HOW IT WORKS
1. At the session start time (default 04:00 GMT) the EA builds a price range from the first bars of the session (default: 5 bars of M10).
2. It waits for a candle (default M5) to close above the upper edge or below the lower edge of the range.
3. An EMA filter (12/26) confirms the direction: Buy only when the fast EMA is above the slow EMA, Sell only when it is below.
4. The stop loss is placed at the opposite edge of the range. The take profit is set by a fixed Reward:Risk ratio (default 1:3).
5. When the trade reaches 0.5R in profit, the stop loss is moved to break-even plus a small offset.
6. Days with a range that is too narrow compared to the daily ATR are skipped.

RECOMMENDATIONS
- Symbol: XAUUSD (Gold)
- Chart timeframe: any (M5 recommended)
- Minimum deposit: 500 USD; 1000 USD or more recommended
- Risk: 1% per trade (default). Higher risk increases drawdown.
- A VPS is recommended so the EA can run without interruption.
- Low-spread ECN or Raw accounts are recommended.
STRATEGY TESTER
In the Strategy Tester the EA cannot read the real GMT time. Set "Broker GMT offset used in Strategy Tester" to your broker's server offset (for example 2 for a GMT+2 server). On a live or demo account this is detected automatically.
PLEASE NOTE
The strategy has losing periods that can last several months. Past test results do not guarantee future results. Test the EA on a demo account first and use a risk level you are comfortable with.
INPUT PARAMETERS
Range (session box)
- Range timeframe: timeframe used to build the range (default M10)
- Bars used to build the range: number of bars in the range (default 5)
- Session time is in: GMT (converted automatically) or Broker server time
- Session start hour / minute: start of the range (default 04:00 GMT)
- Broker GMT offset used in Strategy Tester: server offset for backtesting only
- Entry window after session start (hours): no new trades after this window (default 20)
- Min / Max range size in points: skip days outside these limits (0 = off)
- Max range size as x Daily ATR(14): skip very wide ranges (0 = off)
- Min range size as x Daily ATR(14): skip very narrow ranges (default 0.1)
Volatility filter
- Min Daily ATR(14) / ATR(100) to trade: trade only when volatility is above this ratio (0 = off)
Entry
- Breakout candle-close timeframe: timeframe of the confirmation candle (default M5)
- Max trades per session: default 1
- Allow Buy / Allow Sell: enable or disable each direction
- Max spread to enter, points: wait while the spread is above this value (0 = off)
Stop loss / Take profit
- Reward:Risk: take profit as a multiple of the stop loss distance (default 3.0)
- Move SL to break-even: on / off (default on)
- Break-even trigger (profit in R): profit needed before moving the stop (default 0.5)
- Break-even offset beyond entry (points): small profit locked in at break-even (default 30)
EMA filter
- Use EMA filter: on / off
- EMA timeframe: default M5
- Fast EMA / Slow EMA: default 12 / 26
- Also require close above/below trend EMA: optional extra filter
- Trend EMA: period of the extra filter (default 55)
Money management
- Lot mode: Fixed lot or Risk % of balance
- Fixed lot: lot size in fixed mode
- Risk % of balance per trade: default 1.0
Other
- Magic number: identifier for the EA's trades
- Max slippage (points)
- Draw range on chart / Show info on chart
