Introducing Canopus Gold, my new Expert Advisor – a multi-strategy breakout system built for XAUUSD / GOLD.
Canopus Gold runs four independent trading strategies on a single chart. Each one hunts breakouts in its own way and on its own time horizon, from fast scalps to multi-day swings. Every trade opens with a fixed stop loss and a fixed take profit and is managed by a trailing stop. The four strategies never share a position – each trades under its own magic number and can be switched on or off individually.

HOW CANOPUS GOLD TRADES
The EA identifies key price levels where liquidity builds up and positions itself for the breakout before it happens. Entries are made with pending stop orders, so the trade is already in the market when momentum arrives. If the market does not reach the level in time, the order is removed automatically.
Every position carries its stop loss and take profit from the first second. Once the trade moves into profit, a two-step trailing stop protects the gain and follows price. A losing trade always closes at its initial stop.
This is not a grid or martingale system. There is no averaging and the lot size never increases after a loss.
THE FOUR STRATEGIES
- S1 Sirius – Scalping. Quick breakouts with tight exits, managed tick by tick.
- S2 Castor – Intraday. Breakouts of major intraday levels with staged entries and a 1:2 reward-to-risk.
- S3 Betelgeuse – Swing. Higher-timeframe breakouts with a 1:3 reward-to-risk and wide trailing.
- S4 Adhara – Session Scalping. Short, fast trades confined to the most active hours of the day. No trades are held overnight and a daily loss cap stops the strategy after a bad day.
Run all four for diversification, or pick the style that suits you. Each strategy is fully independent.
HOW TO USE
1. Install the EA in MetaTrader 5.
2. Attach it to one XAUUSD chart on a HEDGING account. The chart timeframe does not matter – the EA uses its own timeframes internally.
3. Allow algorithmic trading. No WebRequest URL is needed; the news filter uses the built-in MQL5 economic calendar.
4. Run it on a VPS 24/7 so pending orders and trailing stops are always managed.
SPECIFICATION
- Symbol: XAUUSD (also GOLD, XAUUSD.m, XAUUSDm and other broker suffixes)
- Timeframe: any – strategies are timeframe-independent
- Account type: hedging recommended (netting is supported with reduced functionality)
- Minimum deposit: 500 USD, 1,000 USD recommended
- Leverage: 1:100 or higher
- Spread: low-spread ECN / raw account recommended

IMPORTANT
- Past performance does not guarantee future results. Losing trades and losing weeks are a normal part of any breakout system.
- In the Strategy Tester the news filter uses a built-in NFP schedule, because the economic calendar is not available there. Live results may differ slightly around news releases.
- Start on a demo account or with the minimum lot until you are comfortable with the behaviour.
- Do not run two copies with the same base magic number on the same account.
- Use a hedging account. On a netting account the strategies share one net position.
