Overview
SMC Dow OTE EA implements a structural approach: Dow-style market bias on the higher timeframes, a break of structure on the working timeframe, and an entry inside the optimal trade entry retracement zone when an order block or an imbalance confirms it. Several structures are tracked in parallel, so one pending setup never blocks the detection of the next.
How it works
* Bias is read on two higher timeframes from pivot structure, in the Dow sense of higher highs and higher lows. A range state is detected rather than forced into a direction.
* On the structure timeframe, a break of structure arms a setup: the leg that produced the break defines the retracement to be measured.
* The entry zone is the optimal trade entry band of that leg, a configurable retracement window rather than a single price.
* A confluence condition is required inside the zone: an order block, an imbalance, or both depending on the selected mode.
* A limit order is placed at the zone with a stop loss beyond the invalidation swing plus a buffer. Armed and pending setups expire after a configurable number of bars, so a stale structure does not sit on the account indefinitely.
* Part of the position is closed at the first target and the remainder is managed to the second, with break-even handling that survives a terminal restart.
* Several setups can be armed, pending or in position at the same time, up to a configurable ceiling.
* State is rebuilt from the terminal on start-up, so a restart does not leave orphaned pending orders.
Risk management
Percentage of equity risked per trade or fixed lots, with a maximum lot cap.
Recommended use
Designed and tested on XAUUSD with an M5 chart and M30 structure. Structure timeframes below M15 are not recommended. No hardcoded symbol. Hedging or netting accounts, any broker, no DLL.
Backtest results
MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester, 100% real tick data, January 2016 to June 2026, XAUUSD M5, initial deposit 10 000 USD, leverage 1:100: net profit 19 417 USD, profit factor 1.73, maximum balance drawdown 6.96%, 344 trades, 64.0% of trades profitable, average win 209 USD against average loss 214 USD.
