Overview
Holds Line is an Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5 built on a proprietary price-channel signal model combined with a flexible risk-management system. The EA is designed for traders who want market entries driven by clear mathematical criteria (slope, deviation, corridor width) while keeping full control over risk per trade.
It suits both manual parameter tuning for a specific instrument and integration into a portfolio using multiple magic numbers.
How It Works
The EA's core is a price-channel analysis model that is recalculated on every new bar.
- Channel construction. The EA analyzes the last SignalBarCount bars and builds a price channel from them, determining its overall direction.
- Slope evaluation. The channel's slope angle is compared against the EntrySlopeAngle threshold — if the slope exceeds it, the move is treated as pronounced enough for further analysis.
- Corridor calculation. A working corridor is built around the channel's center line; its width depends on SignalCorridorWidth , while its sensitivity to price fluctuations depends on the EntryDeviationFactor coefficient. This separates ordinary price oscillation within the channel from a meaningful breakout beyond it.
- Dynamic correction. On every step, StepCorrectionValue adjusts the corridor's position to the instrument's current volatility, keeping the signal model relevant during both acceleration and slowdown of price movement.
- Entry signal. When price crosses the corridor boundary in the direction of the channel's slope, the EA generates an entry signal.
- Trade management. Position size is determined by the selected risk mode (fixed lot or percentage of balance); the trade is then managed with fixed ProfitTargetPoints / LossLimitPoints levels, switching to a trailing stop once TrailStartPoints is reached, stepping by TrailStepPoints .
- Long-series control. When enabled, the Protections mechanism tightens stop levels if a trade series runs long — an additional safeguard limiting the buildup of open risk.
