Edge Gold Trigger
Edge Gold Trigger is an automated XAUUSD Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5 that trades structured price zones with built-in risk controls and execution protection. It supports multiple position-sizing modes and is designed for hedging accounts, with live trading evidence and long-term backtest results presented below.
Historical Testing
Edge Gold Trigger has been tested across 31.5 months of XAUUSD data, from 1 January 2024 to 13 August 2026, with additional standalone tests for 2025 and 2026(1 Jan to 13 Aug).
The published results cover three position-sizing configurations:
- Fixed Lot: $100 initial deposit, 0.01 lot
- Capital-Based Sizing: $500 initial deposit, 0.01 lot per $100 of strategy capital
- Risk-Based Sizing: $500 initial deposit, 2% risk per trade
The fixed 0.01 lot test is presented as the primary measure of the underlying strategy because it removes the effect of compounding. Across the 31 completed calendar months from January 2024 through July 2026, the strategy recorded positive trading P&L before commissions in 30 of 31 months.

Trading Approach
Edge Gold Trigger is a level-based XAUUSD trading system designed to identify structured price zones using proprietary technology to identify high-probability trading opportunities.
The EA continuously monitors eligible zones, waits for predefined price interaction and confirmation conditions, and then manages the trade automatically using protective stops and trailing logic. Entries are highly selective, with built-in no-trade windows, slippage filters and spread filters.

Risk Management
Edge Gold Trigger provides multiple position-sizing methods so users can choose how aggressively capital is deployed:
- Fixed Lot: Uses a constant lot size for every trade.
- Risk per Trade (%): Calculates position size based on the selected percentage risk for each trade.
- Capital per 0.01 Lot: Scales lot size according to the amount of strategy capital allocated for each 0.01 lot.
- Strategy Capital Allocation: Allows only a selected percentage of account capital to be considered by the EA for position sizing.
- Daily Drawdown Limit: Optional daily loss protection, no trades initiated till end of trading day once limit is hit; setting the value to 0 disables this filter.
All trades are opened with protective stop-loss logic, while margin, volume and broker trading constraints are checked before execution.
Recommended Trading Environment
Edge Gold Trigger is designed for MetaTrader 5 hedging accounts and should be attached to an XAUUSD M1 chart.
For best consistency with the published testing and live deployment, use a broker offering competitive gold spreads, stable execution and normal XAUUSD trading sessions. Actual results can vary between brokers because of differences in spreads, slippage, symbol specifications, liquidity and execution quality.
The EA handles broker session availability and applies its built-in spread, slippage and execution protections automatically.

Edge Gold Trigger keeps the user configuration intentionally simple, with only the essential controls exposed:
- Strategy Capital Allocation (%) — Defines the percentage of account capital allocated to the EA for position sizing.
- Lot Sizing Mode — Selects between Fixed Lot, Risk per Trade (%), and Capital per 0.01 Lot sizing methods.
- Fixed Lot — Lot size used when Fixed Lot mode is selected.
- Risk per Trade (%) — Percentage of allocated strategy capital risked per trade when Risk mode is selected.
- Capital per 0.01 Lot — Determines how much allocated strategy capital corresponds to each 0.01 lot when capital-based sizing is selected.
- Daily DD Limit (%) — Optional daily drawdown protection. Set to 0 to disable.
- Unique Magic Number — Identifies trades belonging to this EA. Use a different value for each independent instance.
- Enable Dashboard — Shows or hides the on-chart Edge Gold Trigger dashboard. Disable dashboard for faster backtesting.
Installation and Backtesting
For live use, attach Edge Gold Trigger to an XAUUSD M1 chart, enable Algo Trading, select the required lot-sizing mode and risk parameters, and assign a unique Magic Number for each independent EA instance. The dashboard may be enabled or disabled without affecting the trading logic.
To reproduce the published Strategy Tester results, use the following configuration:
- Symbol: XAUUSD
- Timeframe: M1
- Modelling: Every tick based on real ticks
- Execution delay: Zero latency / ideal execution
- Forward testing: No
- Optimization: Disabled
- Leverage: 1:100
- Test period: Use the exact periods shown in the published screenshots

Edge Gold Trigger should be used with risk settings appropriate to the trader’s account size and risk tolerance. Higher position sizing or percentage-risk settings can significantly increase both potential returns and drawdowns.
The EA is designed for XAUUSD on MetaTrader 5 hedging accounts. Before live deployment, users are encouraged to verify operation with their broker and confirm that the selected money-management settings are suitable for their account.
Great performance so far! 13 trades in 10 days. 11 wins, 2 losses, 30% overall profit. Performance seems to highly depend on the broker acc. to my backtests.
