Gold Xauusd Grid Recovery EA is a fully automated MetaTrader 5 Expert Advisor designed specifically for Gold (XAU) symbols. It combines RSI-based entry logic, structured grid execution, multi-stage basket management, recovery positions, configurable risk profiles, and optional news and trading-session filters.
The EA is designed for traders who want a rule-based approach to managing Gold positions through different market conditions. All trade entries and position management are handled automatically according to the selected settings.
Strategy Overview
The EA starts a trading basket when the configured RSI conditions are met.
For a BUY setup, the EA looks for an RSI condition in the lower range. For a SELL setup, it looks for an RSI condition in the upper range.
The initial trade direction can be configured through:
- BUY only
- SELL only
- BOTH directions
An optional M15 RSI direction filter can also be used to align the initial trade with the broader RSI direction.
Gold Grid Trading
After the first position is opened, the EA manages additional entries using a structured grid.
Grid spacing, maximum positions, RSI levels and take-profit distance are configurable. The EA also provides predefined risk profiles that automatically adjust important trading parameters.
The available risk profiles are:
- Low Risk
- Balanced
- Aggressive
- Custom
The Balanced profile, for example, uses a 500-point Gold grid distance, a maximum of 15 positions and RSI levels of 60/40. The actual settings can be changed through the EA inputs.
Basket 1 and Basket 2
The EA uses a multi-stage basket structure.
Basket 1 manages the initial grid sequence. Once the configured maximum number of Basket 1 positions has been reached, the EA can activate Basket 2 when the market moves the configured Basket 2 distance beyond the last Basket 1 position.
Basket 2 continues the position sequence with its own grid management and continues the lot sequence from the Basket 1 position count.
This allows the trader to configure a separate recovery distance between Basket 1 and Basket 2 instead of treating the entire position sequence as one uniform grid.
Mixed Recovery
The EA also includes an optional Mixed Recovery system.
When enabled, the EA can open positions in the opposite direction of an existing basket when the configured RSI recovery condition is reached.
Mixed Recovery uses its own:
- Recovery profit target
- Recovery grid distance
- Maximum recovery positions
- Recovery trailing distance
Recovery positions are managed independently and can use trailing stop logic to protect favourable movement.
Basket Take Profit
The EA supports basket-level profit management.
When Basket TP is enabled, the EA monitors the combined floating profit of the positions and can close the basket when the configured profit target is reached.
The EA also calculates the weighted average entry price of the open positions and updates the basket take-profit level according to the selected take-profit distance.
News Filter
An optional economic-calendar news filter is included.
The EA can monitor selected economic events and currencies and pause new trading around configured news events.
Default monitored events include:
NFP, CPI, FOMC, Interest Rate, GDP, PMI and Retail.
The news filter also allows the user to configure the currencies, lookup period and minutes before news during which trading should be stopped.
Trading Session Filter
Trading hours can be configured through the EA inputs.
The user can specify the beginning and end of the trading session. A closing buffer can also be used near the end of the configured trading session.
Risk Management
The EA provides several controls for managing exposure:
- Maximum Basket 1 positions
- Maximum Basket 2 positions
- Maximum recovery positions
- Configurable grid distance
- Configurable Basket 2 distance
- Configurable stop-loss distance
- Configurable take-profit distance
- Basket profit target
- Trading session filter
- Optional news filter
- Multiple risk profiles
- Automatic lot sequences based on the selected risk profile
The lot sequence is predefined for each risk profile and continues through additional basket positions according to the position count.
Designed for Gold
The EA is specifically restricted to XAU symbols and is intended for Gold trading rather than being a general multi-currency Expert Advisor.
Gold can experience rapid price movements and extended directional trends. Grid and recovery strategies can therefore experience substantial floating drawdown during prolonged adverse movements.
For this reason, users should test the EA with their broker, account size, spread conditions and selected risk settings before using it on a live account.
Recommended Usage
Before live trading:
- Test the EA in the MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester.
- Test different risk profiles.
- Check the behaviour of Basket 1 and Basket 2.
- Evaluate maximum drawdown and margin usage.
- Test the EA with your broker's XAU symbol and trading conditions.
- Start with a suitable account size and conservative risk settings.
- Consider using a VPS for continuous automated operation.
