Auriferum: automated gold (XAUUSD) trading on MetaTrader 5
Auriferum is a rule-based Expert Advisor for XAUUSD. It ships with one strategy switched on, Break and Retest, and includes five more that you can switch on yourself.
How the default strategy works (Break and Retest)
- It watches a fixed grid of support and resistance prices on the M5 chart.
- When price breaks a level and then retests it, the EA places a limit order. Unfilled orders expire on their own.
- Every trade has a stop loss and a take profit. The stop is placed at roughly $11–18 from entry and the take profit at $2.30. There is no martingale, no grid and no averaging down.
- By design, wins are small and frequent, and losses are rare but about six to seven times larger than a win. Past tests show a high win rate, and one loss takes back some wins.
Optional strategies (off by default)
You can enable any of these in the Inputs tab:
- Golden Cross (EMA/SMA cross with an ADX filter)
- V-Shape (reversal after a V-pattern)
- Break the Liquidity
- Donchian breakout
- Linear Regression
These five are not tuned for combined use. Enabling several at once raises your total exposure. A portfolio guard blocks opposite-direction orders and caps total open risk at 8% of equity.
Risk controls
- Lot size comes from a risk percentage of equity (default 2%, multiplied per strategy; BnR uses 1.3×, so about 2.6% per trade) and the stop-loss distance.
- A trading session window (07:00–20:00 server time) and a blocked window around 15:30–16:00 server time (NY sweep).
- Trailing stop, breakeven and time stop are available as inputs. Trailing is off by default.
- One instance per symbol.
Requirements
- Chart: XAUUSD, M5.
- Account: hedging. On a netting account the EA only starts if a single strategy is enabled.
- Use a low-spread broker. Spread, slippage and execution speed change results, especially with a small take profit.
- Allow algorithmic trading. The EA needs no DLLs.

The first period is where the parameters were optimised, so its results are not a forecast. Taken together, the two later periods are roughly break-even. Sample sizes are small, and the strategy's resusing trades.
