OnePunchBuddy
No grids. No martingale. No averaging down. At most one daily entry per currency pair.
OnePunchBuddy is a MetaTrader 5 Expert Advisor with a nighttime trading schedule in UTC and a selective approach to entries. Its model is intended for comparatively quiet market conditions. The advisor waits for its internal price and timing criteria to align before opening a position. Nighttime trading does not exclude news events, sharp price moves or wider spreads.
The advisor opens one position at a time per currency pair. It does not build a grid, use martingale or add positions to average down a losing trade. Volume is not increased to recover a previous loss.
OnePunchBuddy should be viewed as a tool for long-term use, with moderate expectations for performance. Its behavior should be assessed over an extended period and a series of trades. Positive returns or a specific level of performance are not guaranteed.
TRADING APPROACH
The advisor analyzes recent price structure and the current price's position relative to a local trading range. A preset model determines the direction and entry conditions. The core principle is to wait for a qualifying setup within the strategy's trading period.
A trade is closed by Take Profit, Stop Loss or the strategy's time-based exit. Under normal operating conditions, a losing position is not held indefinitely in the hope of a price recovery. The time exit limits the planned duration of an individual trade and helps avoid prolonged exposure to a floating loss. This does not guarantee the absence of account drawdown: drawdown can also develop over a series of trades. The trading schedule and holding rules are part of the core model and are not user-adjustable.
The advisor allows at most one executed entry per symbol per UTC day and one open position of its own per symbol. The chart timeframe does not change the internal analysis.
CONTROLS THAT MATTER
- Take Profit: 20 pips. Stop Loss: 100 pips. These levels are part of the strategy's basic rules, and changing them is not recommended. Both inputs are marked "do not change".
- Fixed lot or volume proportional to account balance.
- Balance-based sizing on USD and EUR accounts: the balance-per-lot amount is expressed in the account currency.
- Enable the chart panel, choose its language and adjust its background transparency.
Balance-based sizing scales position volume but does not maintain a fixed percentage risk per trade. Before sending an entry request, the advisor checks whether the volume is allowed and sufficient free margin is available. An invalid volume or insufficient margin may cause the entry to be skipped.
The chart panel displays the current operating status and can be disabled. English is the default language for the panel and messages; Russian, Simplified Chinese and Turkish are also available.
TESTS
Historical backtests showed resilient strategy behavior during several challenging market periods:
- The COVID-19 market shock.
- The start of the full-scale war in Ukraine in 2022.
- Market events during Donald Trump's presidency.
- Events surrounding the UK mini-budget under Prime Minister Liz Truss in September 2022.
BEFORE USE
OnePunchBuddy supports Forex currency pairs, including crosses. Metals, cryptocurrencies and other asset classes are excluded. Support for a pair does not mean that a particular set of parameters has been tested on it. Test your chosen symbol under your broker's trading conditions and assess its behavior on a demo account before using real funds.
In live trading, UTC is determined automatically. In Strategy Tester, the historical server time offsets and clock-change calendar must be set correctly; these settings do not affect live trading. MetaTrader 5 or a suitable VPS must remain running for automated entries and position management, including time-based exits.
DISCLAIMER
Forex trading involves risk and may result in a substantial loss of capital. Historical simulations depend on the data, settings and trading costs used; live execution may differ because of spreads, commissions, swaps, slippage and market conditions. No profit or protection against losses is promised. Past profits and past performance do not guarantee future profits or results.
