New York Opening Candle
- Experts
- Versione: 1.0
A small transparent Expert Advisor that trades in the direction of the 5-minute candle opening the US session at 9:30 New York time. One trade per day, fixed stop loss and take profit, forced close, no martingale, no grid, no averaging.
How it works
- It takes the M5 candle that opens the US session (16:30 server time by default; the hour and minute can be changed to fit your broker).
- It enters in the candle direction only if the candle body is larger than the sum of its wicks and tick volume is above 1.5 x the 20-bar average (the volume filter can be turned off).
- Fixed stop and take profit (30 / 120 price units by default, designed for indices around 20000; on other symbols the distances are scaled by price).
- Lot size is calculated from the money risk and the stop distance, or set as a fixed lot; if available margin is not enough, the lot is reduced automatically.
- Forced close at the specified hour.
Inputs
- InpRiskMoney, InpUseFixedLot, InpFixedLot: position size.
- InpSlPoints, InpTpPoints: stop loss and take profit.
- InpCandleHour, InpCandleMinute: time of the candle, 9:30 New York time on your broker's server (check this with your broker: it is the M5 candle with a volume spike at the New York open).
- InpUseVolFilter, InpVolMaLen, InpVolMult: tick volume filter.
- InpCloseHour: hour of the forced close.
Honest results
Strategy Tester, USTEC M5, every tick, year 2025, default settings, deposit 10,000, risk 100 per trade: 91 trades, net profit +2,559, profit factor 1.41, 29.7% winning trades, maximal balance drawdown 7.3%, longest losing streak 10 trades. On 4 years of M1 data my own check gave a profit factor of about 1.4, but 2023 was close to zero. Spreads, slippage and your broker's data will change these numbers. Profit is not guaranteed.
