Liquidity Sweep Candles Pro finds candles that take out the high or the low of the previous candle (a liquidity sweep) and ranks each one by the strength of the reversal: seven subtypes from #1 (strongest) to #7 (weakest). A separate layer finds the 3-Candle FU, where the sweep and the reversal are spread over three candles.
Two candles: [1] and [2]
The signal candle [1] is compared with the previous candle [2].
- If [1] takes out only the high of [2], the pattern is bearish (expected reversal down). If it takes out only the low, the pattern is bullish.
- If [1] takes out both the high and the low of [2], the direction is given by the body of [1]: a bearish body means a bearish pattern, a bullish body means a bullish one.
The subtype depends on two things: where [1] closes relative to the body of [2], and whether [1] takes out one extreme of [2] or both. LQ taken = liquidity taken, BIW = body inside wick.
Seven subtypes, from strongest to weakest
- #1 LQ taken + BIW: both extremes of [2] taken out; the whole body of [1] lies beyond the body of [2], so the body of [2] sits inside the wick of [1].
- #2 LQ taken + engulfing: both extremes taken out; [1] closes beyond the far extreme of [2] and covers the whole candle [2].
- #3 LQ taken + Body covered + Wick below: both extremes taken out; [1] closes beyond the body of [2] but inside its range.
- #4 LQ taken + Body covered: only one extreme taken out; [1] closes beyond the far edge of the body of [2].
- #5 LQ taken + Wick below: both extremes taken out, but [1] closes inside the body of [2].
- #6 LQ taken + Body reversed: only one extreme taken out; the body of [1] turns and closes back inside the body of [2].
- #7 LQ taken + BIW: the sweep happened, but there is no reversal. The body of [1] stays in the wick zone of [2], between the body of [2] and the swept extreme.
3-Candle FU
The first candle sets the level, the second (middle) candle takes it out with its wick only, and a large third candle reverses and closes beyond the middle candle. All three candles are colored, and a star marks the middle candle. The 3-Candle FU has priority over the two-candle subtypes. Strict mode leaves fewer, cleaner patterns: the first candle moves with the trend, the middle candle is the smallest, and the third candle engulfs its body.
What you see on the chart
- Pattern candles are colored by direction and strength: green shades for bullish, red shades for bearish. 3-Candle FU candles are aqua (bullish) and gold (bearish). The strongest subtype is always the most visible color; the palette adapts to a dark or light chart background.
- A dot above the candle marks a bearish pattern, a dot below marks a bullish one. A star marks the middle candle of a 3-Candle FU.
- The panel in the lower left corner shows how many patterns of each subtype were found.
- Every subtype and each direction can be switched on or off, so you can study one subtype at a time.
- You can keep your own chart candles and show only the dots and stars.
- If "Chart on foreground" is enabled in the chart properties, the chart's own candles cover the colored ones; dots and stars stay visible.
How signals are calculated
- Only closed candles are classified. The forming candle is drawn as a neutral candle.
- A two-candle signal appears when the candle closes and does not change afterwards.
- A 3-Candle FU is confirmed when the third candle closes; at that moment the two previous candles are recolored and the star appears on the middle one.
- Works on any symbol and timeframe.
Filters (optional, off by default)
Filters only hide weak patterns. They never move a candle into another subtype.
- Wick filter: minimum sweep wick as a share of the candle range.
- Sweep depth filter: minimum distance beyond the previous high or low, in points, as a fraction of ATR or as a fraction of the candle range.
Inputs
- Show BUY patterns (low swept) (default true): Bullish patterns
- Show SELL patterns (high swept) (default true): Bearish patterns
- #1 ... #3 (default true): One switch per subtype (strongest subtypes)
- #4 ... #7 (default false): One switch per subtype
- Show 3-Candle FU (default true): Priority over two-candle subtypes
- Strict mode (default false): Fewer, cleaner 3-Candle patterns
- Min body ratio C3 / C2 (default 1.2): The third candle must be larger than the middle one
- Wingdings code of the C2 marker (default 171): 171 = star
- Min sweep wick / candle range (default 0): 0 = off
- Sweep depth filter mode (default Off): Off / Points / Fraction of ATR / Fraction of candle range
- Sweep depth threshold (default 0): Value for the selected mode
- ATR period (default 14): Used only in the ATR mode
- Color pattern candles (default true): Off = keep the chart's own candles
- Show dots (default true): Dots above/below pattern candles
- Show statistics (default true): Panel in the chart corner
Please note
This is an analysis tool, not a trading system. It does not open trades and does not predict the market. A pattern candle is a reason to look closer at the chart, not a signal to buy or sell.
