DiNapoli Target Oscillator v2 — See Where Price Sits Inside the Fibonacci Structure
Most oscillators show you overbought or oversold. This one shows you exactly where price sits between the last swing low (0) and swing high (100) — mapped to the Fibonacci levels that institutional traders use for entries and exits.
When the oscillator reads 38.2, price is at the golden pullback zone. When it reads 61.8, price has reached the first take-profit extension. At 100, it has fully retraced the swing. You see this in real time, as a smooth colored line in its own subwindow.
HOW IT WORKS
The oscillator normalizes current price within the most recent swing structure:
0 = Swing Low (bottom of the range) 23.6 = Deep pullback zone 38.2 = ENTRY ZONE — the classic Fibonacci pullback level 50.0 = Midpoint 61.8 = TP1 — first take-profit target 78.6 = TP2 — second target 100 = Swing High / TP3 (full extension)
The line is colored green above 50 (bullish territory) and red below 50 (bearish territory), with a shaded fill between the line and the midpoint so you can see momentum strength at a glance.
BUY AND SELL SIGNALS
Signals fire when three conditions align:
- TREND — Fast EMA above Slow EMA (bullish) or below (bearish)
- PULLBACK ZONE — Oscillator is in the 35-55 entry zone (configurable)
- TURNING — Oscillator is turning up (buy) or turning down (sell)
- IMPULSE — There was a prior move above 60 (buy) or below 40 (sell), confirming the swing structure exists
Buy triangles appear below the oscillator line. Sell triangles appear above. Minimum spacing between signals prevents clustering.
WHAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT FROM RSI OR STOCHASTIC
RSI and Stochastic measure momentum relative to their own history. They tell you "price has moved a lot recently."
The DiNapoli Target Oscillator measures position relative to actual swing structure. It tells you "price is at the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement of the last swing — this is where institutional traders look for entries."
The levels on the oscillator ARE the DiNapoli Fibonacci levels. When you see the line at 38.2, you know exactly where price sits in the swing structure without drawing Fibonacci tools manually.
100% NON-REPAINTING
All signals are calculated on closed bars only (shift >= 1). Once a signal triangle appears, it never moves or disappears.
