Detect rapid gold price expansions and define your response with configurable entries, visual setup levels, and automated trade management.
Gold Quote Expansion is a MetaTrader 5 Expert Advisor designed around short-term bullish price bursts in XAUUSD. It combines the frequency of broker quote updates with price movement and recent volatility to identify expansions as they develop within a candle.
You choose how to respond: enter with the upward move, wait for a pullback, or trade a retracement in the opposite direction. A visual-only mode lets you inspect the setups before enabling automated orders.
How signals are identified
The Expert Advisor compares a short observation window with a longer quote-rate baseline. A signal requires a sufficient upward price move, elevated quote activity, directional efficiency, and price near the top of the observed range.
The observation window, quote-rate threshold, baseline multiplier, minimum price movement, volatility adjustment, and efficiency requirement are configurable. The default observation window is five seconds. This version detects bullish expansions; its buy and sell modes define the response to those expansions.
Four ways to enter
- Market buy: buy when a qualifying bullish expansion is detected.
- Buy limit: place a buy order at a configurable retracement below the running high.
- Market sell: sell when a qualifying bullish expansion is detected.
- Sell stop: place a sell order below the running high to trigger on a downward retracement.
Pending entry levels can move upward as the expansion makes new highs. Retracement depth and pending-order expiry are adjustable.
Trend and exhaustion filters
An optional SuperTrend filter requires the planned entry direction to agree with the latest completed-bar trend. Its timeframe, average true range period, and multiplier are configurable.
The optional exhaustion filter selects upward expansions that meet chosen relative strength index, moving-average extension, or prior-high conditions. Use these controls to define the market context required for your setup.
Position sizing and exits
Choose fixed lots, a percentage of balance or equity, or a fixed risk amount in the account currency. Dynamic sizing uses the intended entry and initial stop distance, with configurable volume limits.
Trade management includes initial stop loss, optional take profit, adjustable trailing activation and distance, break-even adjustment within the trailing logic, maximum holding time, and an optional exit when confirmed SuperTrend direction opposes the position.
Additional controls include a spread limit, broker-time session filter, cooldown, and an optional one-position-or-order limit for this Expert Advisor.
See the setup on your chart
Display the impulse start, running high, and retracement level, together with quote-rate and filter status. Only the latest setup is shown. In market-entry modes, a fixed green line marks the broker-reported fill while a separate blue line tracks the running high.
Setup and testing
Use your broker's XAUUSD chart, with M1 for visual review. Trading is disabled by default. Select an entry mode and enable trading when ready to test automated execution. SuperTrend is built in and needs no separate custom indicator.
Test using "Every tick based on real ticks" and evaluate settings on your broker's data. Quote activity measures received broker updates, not exchange volume or order-book imbalance. Results depend on settings, quote delivery, spread, commission, slippage, and market conditions. Dynamic sizing is a planned risk estimate, not a guaranteed loss limit; pending-order repricing can change that estimate. Trading involves risk and profitability is not guaranteed.
