Meridian Channel is a mean-reversion indicator for MetaTrader 5 that brings channel analysis, historical testing, parameter optimization and position-sizing tools onto your chart. See where price sits relative to its moving mean, explore how your entry rules have behaved, and assess the exposure of a planned basket before placing a trade.
See the setup
See where price has stretched away from its moving mean. The model looks for buys at the lower band and sells at the upper band, with historical entries and exits drawn directly on the chart.
Run parameter searches
Test combinations of Tempo, Deviation and recovery settings with the built-in optimizer. Choose entry and target rules, include trading costs, and reserve an out-of-sample period before comparing candidates.
Check nearby settings
Explore how small parameter changes affect the historical results. Stability maps help you see whether a candidate belongs to a broader area of similar results or stands alone.
Review the results
Open the Details report to assess how the settings behaved over the selected history. Review profit together with maximum open drawdown, trade count and holding time.
Plan the basket size
Choose a target drawdown and inspect calculated lot sizes for different recovery zones. The Risk report accounts for the positions open at each depth, helping you assess exposure across the planned basket.
Main settings
Channel and trading rules
- Tempo: the period used for the moving mean and Average True Range volatility calculation.
- Deviation: the entry band's distance from the mean, expressed in multiples of Average True Range.
- Recovery trades and spacing: the planned entry count and distance between recovery levels.
- Entry and target: Touch or Bar Close entry; Mean, Opposite Band or Fixed target, with a pip setting for fixed targets.
Historical analysis and optimization
- Account and lots: the hypothetical account size and lot size used in the analysis.
- Costs: spread inclusion and an additional allowance in pips.
- History and out-of-sample: the analysis period and the portion reserved for a separate historical check.
- Search ranges and filters: parameter ranges, step sizes and result thresholds for the optimizer.
Additional inputs control band levels and spacing growth, label positioning, dashboard and analysis visibility, the analysis bar count and minimum trade count, channel shading, recovery display style, and Relative Strength Index divergence highlighting with adjustable period and pivot width.
Getting started
- Attach Meridian Channel to an MT5 chart and choose your entry and target rules.
- Review the available history, run the optimizer and compare candidates.
- Inspect stability and open the Risk report to assess basket size.
- Practise the full process on a demo account.
Trading and risk: Meridian Channel is an indicator and analysis tool. It does not place or manage live orders. Its built-in simulation has no stop-loss; reaching the final recovery level does not close the basket. Losses can exceed the selected drawdown target, and an exit at the moving mean can still produce a loss. Historical simulations do not guarantee future results.
This tool really helped me to understand how to use mean reversion, and helped me make sense of what parameters will likely work the best for my currency pairs. As someone who is reasonably new to trading the analysis done here did stuff I would never have been able to do my self at the start. The support was also great.
