**What it does**
Bivium is a gold robot for the 30-minute chart that consults no indicator before
entering. When volatility is at or above its own recent average it opens a long and
a short at the same time and waits. As soon as one side is ahead by a fixed step,
the other is closed and the surviving side is added to while it keeps advancing.
**Why it works this way**
A single position with a fixed target and a fixed stop is worth exactly zero before
costs unless something predicts direction — the probability of reaching the target
first is set by the geometry alone. Every indicator that has ever been written
exists to buy a small edge over that.
Bivium buys none of it. The direction of the next move averages out to nothing, but
its size does not, and a two-sided open that is treated asymmetrically harvests the
size. The whole cost of holding no view is the small lead one side must show before
the other is cut — a fraction of what a wrong opinion costs.
**Risk control**
- A hard stop loss on every unit, placed the moment it opens
- A circuit breaker set as a percentage of balance, so protection scales with the account
- The spread is checked before entry and a wide quote is skipped
- The robot refuses to start on a netting account, or on a timeframe it was not measured on
- No grid, no martingale, no averaging down — units are added only to a side already in profit
**Tested**
2021.11.29 – 2026.08.22 on real tick data with real spread. Deposit 10 000, fixed
0.09 lot, no compounding, default settings:

**What the numbers do not show — read this before running it**
The deepest drawdown is 20.2% of the account. Size against that figure, not against
the profit.
In the test the robot went 14 months without making a new equity high, from July
2024 to September 2025, and 20 of the 58 months closed negative. The profit is
concentrated: the three best months carry 43% of it.
This is what harvesting the size of a move rather than its direction looks like when
the curve is drawn honestly — volatility arrives in bursts, so the earnings do too.
If a smooth monthly income is what you need, this is not the right tool.
**Running it**
Attach to an XAUUSD M30 chart on a hedging account. The one input to change is the
lot size: it ships at 0.09 per 10 000 of deposit and should be scaled to your own
balance. Everything else ships at the tested value.
