VCP Breakout EA is a trading robot for MetaTrader 5. It looks for a market moving in one direction, waits for price to form a smaller range, and trades when price breaks out of that range.


Recommended starting chart

The recommended starting setup is Gold on the M1 timeframe. Use the Gold symbol offered by your broker. It is often named `XAUUSD`, but some brokers use a suffix or a different name. This is a recommendation, not a restriction. The Expert Advisor can be tested on other symbols and timeframes.


Basic setup

1. Open a Gold chart.

2. Select the M1 timeframe.

3. Drag VCP Breakout EA onto the chart.

4. In the Common tab, enable Algo Trading.

5. In the Inputs tab, set UseBrokerStops to true.

6. Set OneTradePerSymbol to true.

7. Check RiskPercent carefully. The default is 0.035 percent of account balance per entry.

8. Leave the other settings unchanged until you have tested the Expert Advisor.

9. Turn on Algo Trading in MetaTrader 5.


How it works

The Expert Advisor checks market direction using moving averages. It then looks for a smaller price range and waits for a breakout. When a valid setup is found, it can:

  • Place Buy Stop and Sell Stop orders around the range.
  • Open a Buy trade after a confirmed upward breakout.
  • Calculate trade size from the selected risk and stop-loss distance.
  • Manage stop loss, take profit and trailing protection.


Trade protection

For beginners, UseBrokerStops should be set to true. This places the stop loss and take profit with the broker. The protection remains active if MetaTrader 5 is closed or loses connection.

When `UseBrokerStops` is set to `false`, the Expert Advisor uses virtual stop-loss and take-profit levels. In this mode, MetaTrader 5 and the Expert Advisor must remain running for exits and trailing protection to work.


Important settings

  • RiskPercent ― sets the percentage of account balance used to calculate trade size.
  • MaxLots — sets the maximum lot size the Expert Advisor can use.
  • EnableLongTrades and EnableShortTrades — allow Buy and Sell setups. 
  • UseBrokerStops — uses broker-side stop loss and take profit. Recommended for beginners.
  • OneTradePerSymbol — limits the Expert Advisor to one active trade or pending order on the symbol. Recommended for beginners.
  • ShowChartObjects — shows or hides trade and trailing levels on the chart.


Gold M1 set file

A Gold M1 set file can be requested after downloading the Expert Advisor. Please contact the seller through MQL5 private messages or the Product Comments section. Include your broker name and the exact Gold symbol shown in MetaTrader 5.

The set file provides suggested starting values for Gold M1. It is optional. The Expert Advisor remains fully functional without it.


Important note

No trading robot can guarantee profits. Test the Expert Advisor in the MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester and on a demo account before live trading. Trading involves risk, and losses are possible.
