Yes, future depends on past history to chalk out future strategies keeping in view mistakes and advantages of the past.
 
If we know that the Rothschilds own GBP and that they control USD through FED
.. and if we know that CHF is under SNB which is by accident in the hands of private banks
... and when we add that Kuroda and Draghi are sponsored from kindergartens by Rothschilds scholarships (today G30 gang) 
then YES,  it is clear that "market" is predictable 

and so manipulated that moves against the position of the majority of retailers

... and attempting to force them to a margin call.

if you can recognize patterns and code them.

if you test those patterns and get an acceptable W/L ratio

Yes if you mean in market's technical analysis, and NO to all other factors.

You may look at a certain economic event that was positive for the US$ in the past, but its not anymore at the present time!

in nowadays markets, a good example is the introduction of Risk-on and Risk-off way of trading fundamentals.

An economic data could print a bright number but still the currency suffers losses!
