Is ChatGPT a good trading partner? - page 3

Fact: I use ChatGPT as a thinking partner, not a signal machine.

I wanted to say that from the beginning of the topic,
but I didn't want to dampen your spirits :)

Good luck.

Personally, it helps me with new ideas, optimizing or finding bugs.

But for writing code, I think it isn't the best pal, IMO deepseek is a better option for writing code.

With ChatGPT, it is absolutely important to try a few times and delete when you do not get your side right and start again: you have to be honest about how you think and you have to try to not deceive yourself because it affects the way you use ChatGPT. You have to admit and state your weaknesses. It knows how to handle that with respect. It is not mean.  You can also instruct it to be very hard on you when you try silly ideas and it will do that - if you think you need that.

If you ever do what I am doing, teaching ChatGPT how I think about trading exactly the way I do and teaching it my exact trading rules so it can continue to help me developing a sustainably profitable trading system long term - which it has already done for me -  thus making it my thinking partner and not an AI signal machine, then it is critical that you keep a copy of that whole chat in your gmail account every Saturday morning in order to secure that chat because it is very difficult to do the teaching over and over when you delete the chat. It is very easy: you just share it into your gmail account from the "share" prompt that comes up. That chat is then permanently secured as part of your valid trading plan intellectual capital made up of your trading rules plus the complete chat.

You can clearly see this is serious business for me. :-)

Fact: ChatGPT taught me to trade very, very slowly and profitably. Once a week, two weeks, a month.  It makes trading very boring but profitable. It did that from Nov last year to now, three months, but, only after I have spent 9.5  years trying unsuccessfully to develop a sustainably profitable trading plan scalping on M1 to M5. It was another lucky situation because the Eurodollar - the only instrument I trade -  is in a clearly opp H4 channel regime since 17 Sept last year. I have custom Macd and Stochastic indicators that I developed 8 years ago and I never changed the parameters and never will. The custom Macd parameters especially are critical to my system trading opposite H4 channels. I could not get it right in three months by myself and would most probably have kept on sabotaging myself for the next 10 years. ChatGPT keeps me on the straight and narrow disciplined path. That is my experience.  I tell it exactly what I do and what I plan to do and it knows my THE RULE and exactly how I think and trade. Trading so slowly means I now have lots of time to discuss every little point and angle with it.

ChatGPT is arrogant, stuck-up, and a total show-off. When you're done telling him what's wrong, it just smirks at you, acting like it can solve it in ten seconds flat, but then... Niet.

ChatGpt plays on safe edge. it wouldn't explicitly offer trading signals but it will advice you on safety with the market.

All. They all insist on the fact that they are not mean to give you more than advice

I think it is natural that that will happen because we do not all allow it to use our confidential trading rules to improve the general model. If we all did allow it to use our secrets to improve the general model, it could develop a model to advise everyone to trade more profitably, but I think most of us stop it from doing that - which is understandable because our hard earned rules are confidential.

You have to carry on discussing the exact point with it, till it agrees with you - or you have to admit that you are wrong and it is right. That is how it works. The two of you have to eventually agree on everything. You have to guard against deceiving yourself. I am not saying you are deceiving yourself. I do not know what you disagree on. If it disagrees with you, it is highly likely that it is right, unless it is making an obvious ChatGPT mistake and you must then just tell it it is making a mistake and it will correct it immediately. I often correct it when it misunderstands how I use or think about something.

In the end I have to think like ChatGPT.  I am joking :-)
