VPS vs No VPS

Has anyone here tested the profits/losses of two accounts with the only difference being VPS vs Desktop/Home PC? It would be interesting to see how effective VPS actually is at reducing slippage, etc.

My Desktop MT5 with a live broker-dealer has a 36.24 millisecond latency while my mql5.com VPS would have an 8.37 millisecond latency.

In my case, I'm an automated swing trader so the difference is minimal to me.

At the end of the day, you have to decide whether the cost of the reduced latency of the VPS (subscription) exceeds the savings of your potential slippage reduction for the specific trading strategy that you employ... or doesn't.

I don't have very much data, but from what I can tell VPS is most important if you are entering trades within seconds of major news. I don't think it effects non take profit based exits that much. The main major benefit seems to be the terminal being in a separate location away from user error.

Like I said, that's not me. My bot only makes 2 or 3 trades per month, and even those are generally entered between news events.

In your case of scalping news events, it indeed sounds like points captured matter. Based on the data you've provided, the mql5.com VPS sounds like a no-brainer. 👍

Jesse Phipps:
The real difference is not just lower latency but more consistent execution.

A home PC can work fine, but small spikes or brief interruptions can still cause slippage. A VPS usually keeps the connection stable, which helps during busy market moments. For timing sensitive strategies, that stability matters more than the raw ping number.
