VPS

Hello,

I'm planning to purchase a local VPS for my trading activities.

Which option would be best in terms of lower latency, so I can have faster execution for automated trading?

Also, if I use an MQL5 VPS, how is it different from a regular VPS? Will I still need a laptop or PC, or can I run everything directly from the MQL5 VPS?

Your trading robots and signal subscriptions can operate 24/7 even when the computer is turned off. To do so, the most optimal solution is renting a virtual server (Forex VPS) straight from the MetaTrader platform. The MetaTrader Virtual Hosting service is similar to a Virtual Private Server service, although it is a superior and more suitable...

If you use MQL5 VPS, you cannot use EAs which utilize DLL imports, and its limited to one metatrader terminal.

On the other hand, if you rent a private VPS, you will have more work to migrate everything, but you can use DLL imports and potentially run multiple terminals on one VPS.

I sincerely thank all of you, my friends, for your help.

Choose a VPS located near your broker’s server, ask them where it’s hosted (like London or New York) and pick a VPS in that region. MQL5 VPS is great for easy setup and direct MetaTrader integration, but it’s more limited, you can’t install extra software like on a regular VPS. If you need more control, go with a standard VPS.

If I use multiple terminals and brokers on a private VPS, will that count as one activation or multiple activations?

usually just 1, however, i recommend that you enable the product on 1 terminal, and then copy the file to the other terminals while all terminals are closed, as sometimes mt5 does count them as multiples. i have had this issue happen to me in past a couple times.

But the upside of using a mt5 vps is that the product is activated on your local machine, and then you migrate it to your mt5 vps which is not counted as another activation. This is a good thing if you only need the 1 terminal.

But as has already been mentioned above -- you can not use dlls on the mql5 vps. so make sure that you dont need them before you purchase a mt5 vps. Chat to the author of your ea to find out if you do not know.

i have used a mt5 in the past several times, and it is a bit complicated to ensure that all is running, however, once you are certain that it is running, it is simply a matter of convenience. accessing the vps from your local mt5 is faster to access your account, than it is to open a remote desktop program, enter your vps details and waiting for it to log into the "private" vps.
