MT5 Setup always fails - “Sorry, something went wrong” - page 2

When the issue came up, "Sorry, something went wrong" with MT5, I unstalled everything and made sure that the folder where MT5 was installed was deleted.

After that, I did a fresh install, and that solved the problem for me.

Hope that will help others.

the most common reason for that error is 1 of 2 things: either the broker server is down, OR, the mq server is down. Trying again later is most common fix. For example installing on the weekend is common to get several new threads with this error; when servers are more likely to go down, while doing maintenance and upgrades.

Hi Momčilo,

That error usually means the installer can’t reach the MetaQuotes servers, so a few things are worth checking:

  1. Try a different installer. If you used a broker’s mt5setup.exe, download the generic one from metatrader5.com, or the other way round.
  2. Test another network. Use a phone hotspot. If the installer works there, your ISP or router is blocking the connection, and changing DNS to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 may fix it.
  3. Turn any VPN or proxy off (or on, if your ISP blocks MetaQuotes).
  4. Check the Windows date, time and time zone, and let Windows sync them automatically.
  5. Allow the installer in Windows Defender Firewall, rather than only disabling the antivirus.

I’d avoid using a zipped terminal folder from another user, since it can contain unsafe files. If none of this helps, please open a request with the MetaQuotes Service Desk and include the exact error and your Windows version.

Good luck!

Unless of course, you're using such a zipped folder posted by an official mql5.com Moderator:

Provide the executable files to downgrade to the last official release of MT5. Useful after an unexpected update to a beta.
