Very Frustrating MT4/MT incompatible robot

Good afternoon guys, I really hope someone can help me. I recently bought this robot, which I was told by the developer was compatible with MT5; it's currently in MT4 format. It has been an extremely vexing day as nothing appears to be working. I have tried going to MT4 but can only download it on my phone, to which my current MT5 username and password don't work. Does having an MT4 build robot unable to be easily converted into MT5 format render my money dead? Really would appreciate an actual practical answer as opposed to a reference to a page that references me to another page. This is getting me very frustrated. Thank you for any practical solutions.

Robots/EAs will not work on mobile devices.

MT4 robots will only work on desktop program MT4.

MT5 robots will only work on desktop program MT5.

Thank you for your quick reply. Yes I know such. However it's almost impossible to find MT4 for the desktop now, as when I found it and tried to download and open it up, I still got MT5. Is there a way to make the MT4 robots compatible with MT5 without learning brain surgery ?

You can only download MT4 from a broker's website nowadays.

Download from a broker like <broker>. If you install their branded version of MetaTrader 4 you can login to any broker by using File > Open Account (don't use file > login). I've never figured out why it's convoluted like this, but going through the open account dialog you can search for any broker and then login.

Trying to download it from MetaQuotes will, as you've experienced, only download MetaTrader 5.

No you can't just make an MT4 bot work with MT5, you'd need the source code and skills to edit the parameters that are different. Plus, your broker would have to specifically support MT4 as they're not interchangeable, you can't just decide to use MT4 if the broker supports MT5. That will likely be your next problem as you said you had an MT5 login. So you can't choose to use MT4 with the existing broker and will need to find a different broker too.
