HELP! MT5 unable to drag symbol(s) to the chart viewing area

I've tried everything, even re-installed MT5. 
The odd thing is that click/drag from Market Watch was working fine and then one day, it's doing wired things. I can't even reorder (sort). Tried reset as well, nadda.

What sometimes does happen is if I select a pair to trade, the symbol replaces one of my windows in the viewing area. At random. Click and drag doesn't work anymore.

try deleting terminal.ini in folder config

or all the charts from the folder C:\SecondDrive\Go_MT5_2\MQL5\Profiles\Charts\Default.

 

I have the same problem on my laptop but MT4.  Using Windows 11

Can't drag a chart into the viewing area anymore

Can't drag an indicator or EA into the chart

Also can't drag a trade history into the chart


For data points, I primarily use MT4 with a few brokers so I have 3 separate instances of MT4.  All the broker MT4's just don't have a drag feature anymore.  If i click and hold on a chart, indicator, trade history I get a red circle with a cross through it. Uninstalled, removed personal data/reinstalled and still can't drag/drop

Even tried installing MT5 and still have the same issue

But when I try on my VPS it still works.  Installed MT4 on my gaming rig and it works.


I'm wondering if it's a windows update issue.  I believe my laptop updated to Windows 11 24H2 a few days ago.

Same issue as BL. Happened after a Windows 11 update. I haven't tried using VPS but I may have to subscribe.

oh you rolled back the 24H2 update and still didn't work?   Damn, I was going to try that today.

I guess the only option left is to format.  

Surprised we're the only ones with this issue.

What does Ctrl-Click & Drag do for you? Normally it would open a new chart.

Also, try the Shift-Click and Alt-Click to see if there are differences in your case.

Nothing happens on each.  both charts and indicators still have the red circle on the cursor when I try to drag.  Also when holding ctrl and shift.

tried on MT5 as well, same thing

man.. I really don't want to have to format my laptop cause of this... lol.

The link seems a bit old, but there may be more recent reports on Windows 11, so run a Google search of your own and see there is anything that can resolve the issue.

Thanks Fernando.  I'll check these out. 

Drag/drop seems to be ok with every other app and OS functions, just seems to be affecting MT4 and MT5 only.

Probably because MetaTrader is still using old WIndows GUI technology.
