New to MT (MT5) - layout question

Hi,

I'm new to MT (I am using MT5) and was wondering if someone with experience can help me with a layout question.

I'm currently setting up my trading windows and was wondering if there is a way of grouping multiple chart windows / chart tabs under a single tab?

I will try to explain, I currently only have a single 27" monitor and I want to have 4 timeframes for 1 symbol (ie EURUSD D1, H4, H1, M15) displayed on the screen in 2x2. I've done that and now I would like to group those windows / tabs under a single group tab called EURUSD. Then I would like to repeat the process for every base symbol I am interested in trading, This way when I click on the group tab it automatically shows the 4 timeframes, click another group tab and it shows the 4 timeframes of another symbol?

Would any experts in MT know if something like this is possible? I can't seem to find a solution anywhere.

Thanks

It doesn't 've a built in tab grouping feature but you can save different chart profiles & switch them quickly!

OK thanks for letting me know. Seems like that would have been a logical feature of a great charting / trading program, hopefully the next update might have it.

Thanks again.

Hi,

I use multiple installs of mt5 that i use in this same manner. In the past I found that if I had more than a dozen charts on a terminal -- that the lower tf charts would be glitchy, albeith this rarely occurs nowadays, however I still use multiple terminals, as it much cleaner desktop and switching between profiles can be troublesome and laggy while the terminal is closing and opening different charts for each profile.

Hi Michael, that's a great idea because I have definitely found that indicators and templates can glitch when changing profiles. When running multiple instances of MT5 does it work happily if they are all logged into the 1 broker account? If I open a trade in 1 instance does it show up on the other open instances?

What's the easiest way to setup multiple instances of MT5?

I would say run all of your MT5 terminals in portable mode so that you can control/share the Data Folder among them.

i have used 3 terminals with same account in past, without any issues; however, it is perceivable that any broker's limit on server messages, will obviously be reached much sooner than if only 1 terminal was connected to that account.
