Unable to search for brokers in MT5 (Windows) Version: 5.00 build 4817, 25 Jan 2025

I'm not able to search for other brokers in MT5 (Windows) Version: 5.00 build 4817 25 Jan 2025. I tried local install on several PCs. I also asked someone to check on their end and they confirm. We had to install an older version to be able to search for brokers within 'Open an Account' dialog. Can others confirm?

Always use installer from a broker. Not many brokers have that feature "Open an Account" from mt5 itself.

Update:

I'm using the default MT5 installer (Version 5.00 build 4817) from https://www.metatrader5.com/en and it couldn't find a single broker last night, and I was trying for hours. This was confirmed with several other people.

When trying again now, I was able to find all the brokers. Not sure what went wrong. I'm guessing the back end MT5 broker search engine was offline.

The windows version of MT5 should search for all brokers, just like the google app store MT5 app does. You shouldn't have to use the broker specific version.

My understanding is that broker-dealers generally distribute the most recent officially stable build of MT5... like 4755 at present. More experienced MT5 users here (forum moderators) have posted elsewhere, stating that the direct MQ build is more of a beta version for experimentation/development purposes. It figures, because my 4817 build that I use for development frequently updates... sometimes several times per day. Also, the updates can hang at times... temporarily causing issues with the loading of applications. This is why I use my broker-dealer's build 4755 for live trading. I'm sure that you can live trade on build 4817. Just know what to expect.

you clearly did not search the site before you asked your question. next time do not be lazy, and instead, search the site first. If you had, then, You would have discovered several threads that discussed this very issue and the common comments such as ryan has said. In Summary, the mt5 that is downloaded from this site, often does NOT work. I have seen it not update prices for 7 full days. This was due to the mq prices server. But other times, as ryan has also mentioned, the installer is almost always a bugged, beta version, which often gives errors that a stable version does not.

True to your post, MT5 Beta just bricked up thanks to an update. It can't even connect to a server.

EDIT: It's up and running again.
