And how this contradicts the rise in prices. An increase in the money supply increases demand. Increased demand causes prices to rise. I associate the growth of share prices with the growth of commodity prices in the sense that the issuer makes more profit from an increase in the price of its products and services, therefore paying more dividends and an increase in demand for its shares from investors.
It is not a contradiction, there is simply no direct correlation. I gave examples of one without the other. Another example - hyper inflation in Germany before BW2 shortly after the start of the great depression in the U.S., no one invested, everyone who had the money bought gold which was successfully expropriated from mere mortals in the U.S. The reasons for inflation and rising stock prices are quite different, quite different.
Often market dependencies tend to be simplified to the wrong, though intuitively supposedly correct and slim-sounding, I try to warn you against this.
