That reminds me - it's my favourite Victor Konecki!
Here's the exact quote:

"You, my Lord, have long noticed that some people, before they become really old, suddenly become cleverer or wiser - whichever you like. And then it starts to seem to them that everybody around them has become stupid. But in fact, my Lord, no one is stupid. It's just that everyone around them has been on their own shelf of cleverness, and stayed on it. And here you are, my friend, starting to browbeat those around you. And they have not yet had time to be convinced of the fact of your, fool, sharp wisdom and are completely bewildered about your bumping. And, of course, they think that your character has deteriorated in your old age.

IronBird:

But there we were talking above about the "socialisation" of trading. And then we moved on to the dumbing down of society. Well, in my opinion, "socialization" can have just the same effect. In the direction of reduction of effectiveness. IMHO

Unfortunately, it is more the other way round. The law of large numbers, however, Chebyshev's theorem and the like.

I'm reading this and thinking - how early I got old ((

I don't remember who cleverly said - Don't cringe if you think everyone around you is suddenly stupid, it's just that you've wised up.
Especially since no one wants to admit decline!

The words of Ecclesiastes come to mind:

Our era is over. All that could be said has been said, all that could be done has been done. The narrow circle of bright, out-of-the-box thinkers has disintegrated, to be replaced by so-called "social trading". From now on, it is a vast, impersonal amorphous group of people who likes, downloads "content" and amuses themselves with "signals" from the AppStore. The MQL Community is becoming a part of Facebook, of Twitter, of contact, of our smartphones. But it will never again become what it once was: part of our souls and our thoughts. Old-timers will go on and on, the frequency of their posts will fall. Some of them will be converted into "content providers", fortunately they have the knowledge to do so like no other. This process has already started and is in full swing :(

Yeah, that's sad.

Your version of "wisecracking" is pretty mild. I guess my upbringing takes its toll.

I went to watch it too. Disgusting opening song there now, don't you think? It's a lame remix of a once-great jazz-inspired track. Also, one of the innovations of our debilitating society.

Little kids.

Old age is when you don't want anything.
