Don't forget the ammunition. The index is going up so far, but it won't be long yet, but it is too early to get into medium or long term buying on the euro.

European Union countries have agreed in principle to impose an embargo on oil imports from Iran, news agencies reported. According to Reuters, consultations are ongoing and a decision can be expected at the end of January. A European Union summit is set for January 30.

On Tuesday, France proposed tougher sanctions against Iran. There are signs that international pressure is starting to bear fruit. The Iranian rial has fallen over the past 2 weeks, after which the local central bank was forced to inject dollars into the domestic market. China, meanwhile, has once again come out against the adoption of sanctions on Iran. A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman told a briefing that negotiations were the only way to solve the problem. "China, like many other states," Hong Lei said, "maintains normal and transparent economic ties with Iran. They do not violate UN Security Council resolutions." The US has already imposed its own sanctions on Iran. Iran had earlier said it was ready to cut off oil transportation through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz if sanctions were imposed on its oil sector. On Tuesday, Iranian Armed Forces Commander Salehi advised the US aircraft carrier John Stennis not to return to the Persian Gulf.
