I see how that is. Hee. :)

He's got it in his right hand when he's sawing his throat. It's already on the string. (It takes some dexterity to put it on discreetly.)

Then with a jerk it supposedly "pulls out of the throat", actually releases it from the right hand and it slides down the string towards the centre.
