if it is related to the broker (did you connect your Metatrader to the broker's server?) so it is about how to select the broker:

Check your Market Window, if the symbol is listed. Or you may rightclick it and select Show all.

Then MT4 is working correctly, but the charts are using the wrong Symbol names. Just close ALL the charts, and then reopen them from the Market Watch (right-clink on a Symbol and select "Chart Window"), so that it will open with the correct Symbol names.

This is because a fresh install of MT4 will open charts such as "EURUSD", "USDJPY", etc., but the broker maybe be using other names such as "EURUSD.m" or something else with a prefix or suffix, and so the names will not correspond and the charts will be forever "waiting to update".
